hello,i have a 98 12v ram 3500 and somtimes when taking off from stops it will shift from 1ST through all gears almost instantly lugging down motor and almost making it die, i can pull it down into 2nd to keep truck running. the truck will keep doing this at every stop untill i stop and shut truck off for awhile. could this be the tps? thanks for any help, also it has been hold low gear before shift ?

1.Band adjustment,2.Servo band or linkage malfuntion(ie:,binding linkage,warped band,servo piston stuck.)3.dragging clutch(not releasing fully)4.broken or siezed planetary gears,5.overrunning clutch worn,broken or siezed.(just had my book open at the tranny section for another member).hope this helps you.

The only thing I come up with that will lug the engine at light throttle is a bad torque converter.

when it does this u can feel it shift through all the grears in just a few seconds

converter clutch could be sticking,how is the cond.of your fluid? maybe a fluid and filter change would reveal something.

just serviced and replaced gov.pressure soleniod and transducer solenoid.

if the shift points aren't right I would check the adjustment on your T.V. cable
