Auto shifting problems

Hi! i am a newbie to the forum and can see there is a lot of great knowledge on the forum.

I have a 98 12v 4X4 stock auto with a TST #11 plate.
The problem is when getting on the highway in traffic with the throttle floored. The truck accelerates great then when it aproaches 2800 rpm before it shifts to 2nd the truck falls on it's face untill I let off the throttle. Then it shifts to 2nd and everthing works great again.
???
Any suggestions on what I need to do to solve this problem?

Thanks for any suggestions.
David

Re:Auto shifting problems

Welcome. Sounds like the pump is defueling at it's current rpm limits. You should look into a 3000 rpm (3K) governor spring kit that will allow the engine to rev past the 2700 point without defueling. This should really wake up your top end. You may also get comments that the #11 plate may not be the best for auto tranny's but have seen others running this combination without problems. It seems to depend more on what you want from your truck. Check with Rod at Wildcat and he can help you out or lots of others on the site. Do a search on defueling or the 3k kit and you will find your answers.
