Auto to Manual?

I was wondering how hard it would be to convert my 98.5 24v to a manual 5-speed? Anyone done this before?

I converted my 1996 12v over from the auto to manual and love it. If you've got the tools, and a helper when installing the NV4500... its really not that bad.

Some advice I can give you:

How hard was it to convert? I was going to have a shop do the switch.

in the whole grand scheme of things its not that difficult. if you do a search on here for nv4500 swaps, there are some great step by step procedures on how to do it. if i can remember, i gave one as well. i did the swap myself in my driveway. i did have a friend to help me when i needed it though. any questions, just pm me.

I'd do it yourself and save the money. Get a transmission jack, I can't imagine doing the swap with just a floor jack. Its really not that bad.

Southern Pride, something just clicked in my head, was your truck the one with the big black "stovepipe" stacks at the Jacksonville dyno day? If so, sorry I didn't get to introduce myself... if that was your truck, it sure looked good .

LOL, yeah, it was dennis. i originally put some 5x36 chrome turnout stacks on when i got back from iraq the first time. IIRC at that time i was one of the only marines who had stacks in the lejeune area, and then it seemed like a influx of stacks happened after that. then last summer, i "found" the ones i have on there now. i wanted to be different, and i like the black color. thanks man

about having a transmission jack, i didnt have one and just used a floor jack. im sure it would have been easier, but it wasnt that bad at all with the floor jack. its not a show stopper, just my .02
