ats stage 6 or build an equal tranny myself?
i need some opinions on my tranny options..... i am down to going with a full ats stage 6 or take it to another guy and buy shafts and heavy duty rebuild kit myself prob from suncoast! pros and cons...... the full ats is about 1500 dollars more depending on shipping fees and if my ats torque converter is bad or not it has a 3 year 150000 mile warranty though were if i built it myself i wouldnt have a warranty but its 1500 dollars less what would you guys do?

I took mine to a guy in NC.( powerbypoole.com) Olee done everything and i saved alot. It is a stage 6 or better . I went billet with everything from the input to the output shaft and a suncoast flexplate\converter . The tranny Olee builds is very strong

i do like suncoast and all but the problem with them is that you'd end up paying the same amount for just building it yourself (based on there website) because they have so many things that u need to get your transmission like a ats stg. 6 in different kits that contain many of the same components you dont need instead of individual peices that is y i am probably going to Goerend when i get the money to buy a transmission

If you're going to build it yourself, suncoast is good and all, but like was said...their kits are a "one size fits all" thing. Talk to these guys. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm

Guys, Do think you can have a transmission discussion without bashing? This is the reason threads get shut down.
I don't run an ATS transmission, but I will tell you that I've been to their facility out in CO and it is top notch. The people who work there are very dedicated to their profession. To call the product "junk" is a low blow in my opinion. If you have problems with any company, there is a proper way to settle it without name calling on a internet web forum.
People have been warned repeatedly about this violation of the site rules.
And just so you know, I'm the one reporting the post to the admins.

I DO run an ATS transmission, I am an "ATS Fan" and have been running their transmissions since 2001 with hardly ANY problems whatsoever! I beat the heck out of all of the ATS units I have had in three different trucks, including running one of my first ATS TripleLok's not only in my now sold 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve, but that same converter is now in my 2006!
If anyone here doubts the "durability" of an ATS Transmission, just look at my signature to see what power level I am at and where I am performance wise on the drag strip or on a dyno. As Mike D. said, they manafacture almost ALL of their own components at their Arvada, Colorado facility and their warranty and customer service is one of the best in the business.
Let me tell everyone, this thread is not going to turn into an "ATS Bashing"
thread fellas! So, lets stick to the facts.
Thanks.

HTS parts are the same if not better and cheaper than that place.
i was gonna do the same thing as you, but checked with dusty at HTS and
he was cheaper . i also felt better talking to him than the guys at PATC.

Meh. I guess I haven't read this board enough. I hardly consider that "bashing". But I'll leave it at that.
I didn't order all of my parts through patc, but they do have good prices and when you order things together there's a pretty good discount--in my case they dropped ~$200 off the final bill. I also didn't go with any sort of kit (though I still have a suncoast "extreme" kit laying around). Agreed they aren't always the most helpful guys to talk to, but also by far not the worst. They just had by far the largest inventory of go fast trans parts I could find anywhere.

I'd start with talking to each vendor in question and go from there- a lot of the success is in the communication between builder and buyer.
My personal experience with DTT is stellar.
The products of some other companies (like Mojave Green) did not hold up nearly as well, and the customer support was nothing to write home about.
I have never had an ATS transmission or part thereof in my hands so I can not comment on them .
Just my 2c

You obviously have a different opinion of what "bashing" is than what I do then! In your post above, which I have "EDITED" by the way, you specifically said "ATS junk", so.........., like I said, keep this thread "ON TOPIC"
or we will close it.
Thank You.
