Does anyone know anything about this new turbo? ATS website doesn't have much on it other than how it works. What size is it and what hp will it support? Is it available yet?

The only thing I know about it is that I called them probably a year ago about it and they told me it would be out in about a month. Still not out yet!

I was asking prices on some other turbos from a diesel shop and the guy mentioned the MST. Said about $1800 for it .I didn't ask any questions about it.He said it as if he had one but I'm not sure. I just wondering what this turbo is on size.Says has the quick spool of a small turbo with the top end of a big one. Maybe a phone call to ATS tomorrow to find out some specs.

I think on Two guys garage they said it will support around 550ish (I think). The one they put on used a stocker and a A4000. Thats all that I know.

SO this turbo is supposed to be available in different sizes, A3000,4000 etc...?

I dont know for sure if they offer different turbos or just the A4000 and stocker setup?

He's talking about their multistage single turbo design that is suppose to spool like a small turbo but have big end like a large single. The best of both worlds.

They are supposed to have a twins setup that uses the stock turbo over the A4000.
I don't know the particulars on the size of the MST though, I believe its around the A4000 or A5000 size though. Its been talked about for years though but never comes to market.
Basically there is a valve that closes off one of the volutes of the turbo forcing all the exhaust through the other volute. When boost increases the valve opens and allows exhaust into the other volute basically doubling the size of the exhaust housing.
ATS has come out with a couple larger turbos recently (the A6000 and A7000) and a few more twin turbo configurations.
The original was the A2000 over the A5000.
They then unveiled the A3000 and made another twins setup with the A3000 over an A5000.
With the introduction of the A7000 they now have a twins setup with an A3000 over an A7000. They call this the Magnum Compounds.
While not advertised I have seen the twins setup with the stock turbo over an A4000 on two guys garage and talked to a couple members on here about it a few weeks before the two guys garage show premiered.

according to ats, they are in the final stages of testing and it should be available in less than one month at a cost of $3400.

ya, i'm with the crew on this one ... for 3400 bucks I can get a set of MPI twins (starter set using the stocker) ...
I know this diesel game is expensive, but I'm beginning to think ATS makes their stuff outta gold ... [dummy][dummy][dummy]

Actually, seeing the overwheling response and success to HTT's stainless steel EH's...
ATS is set to announce their new MST is going to be of a secret squirrel alloy blend of Palladuim, Platinum and Plutonium.
When the turbo blows-- it'll really BLOW!!![laugh][laugh][dummy]
It will be the perfect match to Hohn's new copper intake![coffee]

Clint is working very hard to make a new concept work in the diesel world. He has been working on this for quite a while. I'm sure he could have released it a while ago but wouldnt you rather have it perfect? I know that my ATS tranny has never had one problem with all the abuse, miles, and power I have put to it. When ATS builds a products their defiantly doing something right!!

Last I saw on their website, its based on the Aurora 4000 and comes with a new downpipe and ats pulse manifold. Still, trying to justify $3400 for all that is gonna be tuff.

I have dealt a lot with ATS. They told me the turbo should support up to 600 HP. A MST by ityself supports up to 600 HP. An MST compounded with a larger turbo will support over a 1000HP. Like my tiny BD Twins, I can use the smaller turbo by itself or add the second to make a compound system. The MST can be used by itself or with a larger turbo. I think that is how they explained it to me.
Confuse anyone?
MST by itself will be around $2000.
MST compounded with a larger turbo (4000, 5000, or that 7000) will be around $5000.00. (the 7000 is not listed on their website but in a brochure I got with my ATS products).
They said it should be out very soon.
Too much money for my california 235HP Cummins! I'll stick with my BD twins and if I get thirsty for more power I'll upgrade the one turbo for 400 series. Right now I am working on fueling.

did they tell you $2000. for sure? they told me about a month ago that it was only days away from being ready, and the price would be $3400.

That would be cool. I was reading the latest diesel power and saw an article about one of the ats guys trucks? Maybe it wasn't, but anyway the article stated he was running this turbo. I am pretty sure anyway. I think he was running it with a 4000 in a compound setup. Anyone read that article? I left the mag at work or I'd go re-read it.

The one in the article had the stock HE351 over the MST. They showed this setup on the Trucks TV show last year sometime. There was also a member here that had seen it in development at ATS a while before that. On the trucks show they got around 450hp with a programmer if I remember correctly but dont recall what the EGT was or even if they said what it was.
That setup uses flex pipe between the primary and secondary. I remember on Trucks when the primary lit up watching the flex expand.
