I want a scan tool and I like the idea of a nice big screen to view, any problems with this type setup (other than you have to have your notebook to use it) I’d like to hear from anyone who has used this or a similar setup

link to scan tool (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4586573066&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT)

edit to add forgotten link [dummy]

It looks alot like my Autotap. You might need to check with the seller to see if it'll communicate with the engine computer(ECM) as the Autotap presently doesn't have that capability.

I have the auterra software (use it mainly with the PDA, but have the option of using it with a PC). Doesn't like to work with our cummins engine, at least on my 02. Haven't tried it yet on the '05. I was not too impressed either that they want you to pay a lot extra for using the manufacturer specific features available. This said, I got it very cheap and overall it has been a useful code scanner for me.

What you want to check out is http://www.autoenginuity.com/. Thats what I am going to go for when I get more then 5 cents to rub together. You can use it on a lap top or a list of hand held PDA/PCs. You can also use bluetooth, its a very nice system and it comes with free upgrades to the software. Its more money though, 230 for the basic stuff and 650 for the full package with diesel code pullers (not cummins for some reason). Though it may just pull the codes and not tell you what it means for cummins.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll send him a question to see if it will work with the Cummins or not
