After doing the back cylinder upgrades this year I want MORE!
has anyone upgraded their front brakes?
I was thinking slotted disks and multiple piston calipers but I don't know if they even offer them for our trucks in any affordable way.

EGR kit or Brembo rotors with Hawk pads. Install teflon wire wrap lines to prevent swelling.

Only way to get more pistons in that caliper is to swap knuckles over to the 3rd gen if I remember right.

Judging from the responses this isn't a big thing for our trucks??
I don't know about you but I like knowing I can reign in 3 tons of hurteling steel when I need to.
I guess I'll start with slotted disks and new pads. If that isn't enough I'll go with after market calipers.

I dont think its a caliper thing as much as the surface area on the rotor and on the pads, the 01's have a pretty small surface area compared to an 03, so it's easy to over heat (brake fade) the front's

Upgrade the rear brake cylinders with GM ones. Search GM wheel cylinder.

be careful with slotted/drilled rotors, they can cause more problems than they solve many times. Really with today's brake pads the only thing a slotted rotor serves to due is scrape off old pad material so you get a little bit better bite out of the pad, with increased wear of course. Without getting a bigger rotor, and bigger pads, you aren't going to increase your stopping power a whole lot.

Also take into consideration if you get too nutty with the brakes sooner or later you'll need bigger tires. Probably not much of an issue on bigger trucks like these CTD's but if you're running some skinny highway tires you run the risk of locking those suckers up which will result in an increased braking distance.

I think being an attentive and defensive driver is far more useful than most brake upgrades, just my opinion. And my truck stops pretty well with the factory equipment... I honestly have not seen any need to shorten my braking distance whatsoever!

I used A.R.T. Cryogenically Treated Brake Rotors and Performance Friction Carbon Metallic brake pads.

Not cheap but noticed a big improvement and no dreaded warpage so far like the stock ones.They weren't much more $$ than aftermarket stock auto parts stores stuff here so...
