Anyone tried stacking a VA C3.2 w/ a DL?
I am currently running a Van Aaken C3.2 duration box. It works fine but I'm looking for a bit better off the line throttle response so I'm thinking about getting a downloader. Has anyone tried stacking this box with a Smarty, Predator, or BullyDog programmer? Will it be too much duration? I really don't want to have to shell out more $$$ for a pressure box if I don't have to...

It shouldn't work,... and even may be harmful

I run the VA 3.2 duration all the time. I made the numbers in my sig with the VA on mid setting (70hp) with my Diablosport Predator on Extreme RKL with a spray of water for cooling. I tried running the high setting (130hp) but I only have stock cp3 and I don't think my pressure could stay up. Temps went wild and power was down. You really need a bigger than stock turbo to handle just the 3.2 by itself let alone stacked with a downloader.

If I was not worried about huge power would it be an OK stack though? My plan would be the run the C3.2 on the mid setting and the DL on a tow or performance tune keeping in mind that even though I'm doing this I'm not driving like a maniac since my trans is still stock..

As long as you stictly monitor your exhaust temps, you should be fine... Your trans won't last long if you hammer it either. I've run the Performance tune and the VA 3.2 on 70hp with stock turbo but NEVER floored it... maybe half throttle at best and temps would easily hit 1200.. I didn't go any further because I know I could probably hit 2000 with that stack/turbo. Throttle response is pretty darn good.

Cool. I have to find me an EGT guage still and definitely won't do it until I have that installed. I am full aware that too much duration=lots of heat...
Thanks man.....
And I don't know who I'm trying to kid. I need to start saving for a transmission.......

and remember that some downloaders run pressure also. Diablo does it all depending on what tune. Pressure, duration, and timing. I ran an Extreme RKL "PUFF" tune for awhile... it smokes at idle, hence the puff name.
Don't know much of what Smarty or others do to get their power.

I recommend something that adds timing. Smarty Jr might be a good choice since the lower setting is pretty much timing only. Use the VA as power on demand...
Hmmm, I wouldn't mind trying that myself.
