Anyone running Michelins?
Anyone running 285/75/16 'E' michelins LTX A/T 2
Wonder how you like them. I was Looking at them for my CTD 2500 4x4.
Might get the BFGs, But wondering about the Michelins

I run them on both trucks noted in my signature and have been very pleased with their overall performance. The LTX AT 2 were a big improvement over the stock LTX tires in regards to traction in wet grass and all types of road surfaces. I felt that the stock LTX tires were a very good highway tire that wore like iron;however,they lacked the grip that a tire with a more aggressive tread pattern would provide. In addition to grip,I searched for a tire that would wear and perform as well as the stock LTX tires did and gambled that the ATX 2 would fit the bill.
I have 28000 miles on the Michelin ATX 2's on my 01.5 which are wearing like iron. They perform very well and have exceeded my expectations. I would expect to get at least 80,000 miles out of them.

My Michelins ride very well on the hwy but with 22k on them now I doubt they'll go 45k without showing the wear bars. They look like they're at half tread now. I'll be putting 19.5s with 150,000 mile commercial tires on when I buy the 40' toyhauler.

I've had horrible experiences with the stock LTX tires and won't be buying any tires from Michelin, ever.
When I bought my '03 it was on it's second set at 69k so I know they can provide some incredible mileage, but driving in wet weather was borderline lunacy. No feedback from steering at all, and I could feel the entire truck slide. Turning corners from a stop required a feathery touch to the go pedal otherwise the tires would spin instantly. I was pulled over for "unsafe driving" because of this, so I told the officer what was wrong and that I was planning to replace the tires because of it. I even had him take my truck for a "spin", literally. He spun them as well, and proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace those tires before I hurt my truck. Duh. At least it got me out of a ticket.

Had Michelins on the '01 and got good lasting mileage out of them. When time to replace my tire man recommended Nitto all terrain (Terra Grabbers I think) and really like them. The Michelins rode hard, but these have a smoother ride to them. I also got all four for a little more than 2 Michelins. They also get much better traction. The Michelins would spin on wet grass.

I am running the Micelins ltx a2's in 285. Only have about 5k on them so far. I like them, at least so far. They replaced some toyo m55's that I also liked but they were too noisy for me. The a2's are quiet, have good dry and wet traction. Just had a fairly deep wet snow here and they did great. Will have to see how they do with the rest of the snow coming this winter. Have not used them in the mud yet but that is coming soon as well. I have towed a 4k trailer with them and they were great. I have not hooked up a big gooseneck to them yet so cant speak about heavy towing with them.

I put the LTX A/T2 on last year and really like them. Good grip rain & snow, I did not have to use 4x4 as much. I can now drive thru the subdivision in 2wd with a few inches of snow, no problems. A VERY subjective opinion, the traction is at least twice what the stockers were. In the summer about twice as much tire noise as stock too, but not bad. 15k on the tires and I guess they will wear like the last (60k). I would give them a thumbs up, for what it's worth.

I have been running Michelins on my trucks since 1988. Never have I seen less than 80,000 miles. (LTX M/S) I ran a set of XPS Ribs on my 96 Dodge Cummins and got 98,000 miles from them. My 2000 Dodge 3500 with the LTX got 94,000. Set before that was 88,000.
The entire mileage thing with these tires is the initial balance when you buy them. Watch the balance and do not allow any movement in the tire left to right or up or down when they spin them. These tires are heavy mounted on Steel Rims and they never get them centered on the hub. They will not ballance if they are moving around on the balance machine. They will tell you, your rim is out. BS most of the time.
Rotate at least every 10,000 miles. If your balance is good, don't rebalance, they will only screw it up. Use a Depth Guage also and keep track of the wear. If its a dually, run the rears in accordance with the door sticker, no higher. My 2000 Dodge sticker said 55 front and 50 in the rear. Thats were they stayed.
The 2006 is 40 in the rears and 50 up front unless towing at max load that requires 60 in the front and 65 in the rears. If you leave the rears up at 65psi or greater the tire will rear out in the center.
OH YEA, never had a tire failure. I've had a couple nails and screws, but never a seperation or tread problem with a total of 36 tires on 4 different trucks. When I buy a new set of tires, I tell them up front what I expect with the balance and if they don't want to deal with it, I'll go somewhere that will. When your spending 1200 dollars for tires, they don't have an option.

have ran michelins on my trucks xps's on my 16's and then the ltx on my 3rd gen always got over 60k out of them and never had any problems with them other then the price and the fact that michelin does not make the xps in a 17

I see you posted different threads about both tires. I've got the BFG-KO's right now and I like them. I don't know how many miles are on them, as I got this truck with them on already. I do have the paperwork where the previous owner got them at Discount and have been intending to see how many miles are on them. I will be replacing them soon, as mine are getting thin. I have considered the Michelins, but I still prefer the look of the BFG's. I've had other Michilens and got 90,000 miles and still rolling out of one pair that when the 99 was sold. I am particular about tire inflation and rotation, and that really helps them last.
Also, the KO's do seem to tear up the turn. I actually like it. I backed up from the mail box the other day and as soon as I hit it, a lug of mud flew up and landed on my passengers arm, inside the cab, with the window down. He about jumped out of his skin. I like it when they flip out 2 hunks that looks like a squares of sod flipping end over end in the air. I live in the country with acres of play area so there's no harm done.
I'm 99.999999999% sure I'll be staying with the KO's.

Mud slinging ?My other 4x4 does that Too. I get mud chunks on the windshield, top of the hood , flying inside the cab, hiting me on the arm and forehead

Michelin 285-75-16 LTX AT2 Doesn't Fit in Spare Holder
I have been riding around with an LTX 285-75-16 AT2 in the back seat of my 1996 2500 CTD. I couldn't make it fit under the rear of the bed and I messed with it for an hour or so. Did all of you manage to get yours AT2s in that spare holder?
