anyone run dyed in their 07?

i heard that the 07 6.7L have something in them that will shut the engine down if dyed fuel is used in them. i have no clue whether its true or not and if it is does the 5.9 have it too?

Some one is blowing smoke up your butt on that one. The truck would never know you had off road fuel in it.

Can you tell us, are you planning to drive on the road with the untaxed fuel? Depending on where you live that can risk some very serious fines.

Yes, it will shut down. There's a special "eye sensor" that monitors the pump and will shut down if dyed fuel is used.

Many transporters got stranded on highways then got impounded when LEO showed up and checked the fuel.

I would stick to standard fuel, the savings are not much.

So when you break down on the side of the road you call the local LEO to come help you out?

So you are also saying all the farmers in the USA that can legally run untaxed fuel in their vehicles on their property now must buy road taxed fuel? There would be a "eye sensor" delete kit for something like that. Find one for me please.

I've run dyed out of my 05 several times. Ran kerosene for about 3,000 mile also. 140,000 on my stock fuel system and injectors without an issue so far.

Who told you this?

Do a search on this site and see how many people have complained about being stranded by this. You will find not one instance of and you can be sure guys have run all kinds of things in their trucks that would have set off a sensor like this.

If you heard it from a service writer he is just trying to scare you. Last but not leas the reason it is not in any manual is it does not exist.

it was some old feller at the auction where i got my truck. he said his brother bought the same truck but the 6.7 and it couldnt run dyed. but it makes sense that if its not in the manual then its not in the truck. looks like the next tank of diesel will be purple

Careful,
Here in NV, the dmv has an online form where you can turn in the license plate of anybody you see fueling up with red and get a reward.
I know where to get the red, and love the fact that it's not ulsd, but won't do it.

That's totally bogus, here anybody with a farm plate can and does run purple fuel for "farm business" on road.

I don't see dead 07's scattered all over the country, somebody is feeding you a line.

I am sure that the "Old Feller" was probably referring to LSD instead of ULSD but called it dyed fuel. I have never heard about any sensor on the injection pump that can sense dyed fuel. Lots of farm trucks run it with no problem...

Yep, but ULSD is ULSD and LSD is LDS. Some places the off-road stuff is/may be LSD.

I think we've got a couple more years of LSD for certain applications (boats/trains).

From what I've read, the deadline for the off-road stuff to be ULSD is next month, August 2010.

"After December 1, 2014 all highway, nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel fuel produced and imported will be ULSD"
