Anyone Put Child Seats in the Rear of Quad Cab?

I just bought an 01 and am trying to figure out how to put my kids booster and carseat in the back. The shoulder straps don't seem to lock when you pull them quickly. I'm worried it won't hold the seat in tight. Anyone else have this issue? What have you done?

I have 1 booster and a rear facing car seat in the back seat and one more with nothing but a seat belt. No issues outside of leg room for the older DD (9 yr old).

I honestly never checked if the shoulder harness locked but haven't on the Durango either.

I thought I read there was an electrical connection that was faulty on some of the driver and pass seats causing them to lock all the time (not your issue). Maybe the rears are the same??? I don't think they are like the old style we had that take a fast motion foreward to lock or a quick jerk and jerk again and then they lock. I could be wrong thought

Yea...it's a PITA! Pretty much zero room in the bs for a car seat. Whatever you do don't install it behind the driver seat as you'll be driving w/the steering wheel in your chest. This was the reason I was thinking of a 2nd gen mega-cab.

The buckles themselves supply the tension if you pull upwards on them. They lock down pretty tight. I have had all three in their carseats at one time and the seat belts hold them in tight even after a ten hour trip. The recoil mechanism doesn't need to ratchet to lock to hold them tightly.

My8 yr old rides in a car seat on the passenger's side with no problem. Full size doors would be nice but I've almost got the bugs worked out of my 00 so I'll keep it.

By law and according to age they must ride backwards. I don't see how you have any room to have the setup in the back seat and keep from having the front seat crammed against the dash?

In Canada anyway, they only need to be reverse facing up to 1 year of age. After that they are front facing. 40 pounds and up only need a booster seat. The booster seat fits great, but I'm just nervous about the fact that my shoulder straps in the back don't seem to lock when you yank on them.

ok, yea....Canadian laws are probabaly different. I'm still kind of frustrated w/the lack of space in the back.

Yea, reverse facing is like 1 year old here in NY as well. and 40Lb's and so tall is a booster. I had my girlfriend's 15 month old girl, and my 4 year old in the back of my club cab and it wasent pleasant. Doable, but, roomy is NOT a word I would use.

We put rear facing child seat in middle back. Locks with regular buckle. Front facing in same place with harness type child seat. Booster seat goes on passenger side with 3 pool tube thingys cut up and taped together and placed behind lower part of booster seat so kid can at least recline a little. We leave the top of the booster seat on even though he's old enough to just have the bottom because there are no rear headrests. PITA, yes, but doable....
