anyone know about Volkswagen VAG-COM/VCDS??
so i have a 2009 TDI jetta and would like to do some lighting upgrades but need vagcom/vcds in order to program the car appropriately.
i have been looking at the cables, and some look very similar to my SMARTY cable i use on my truck in sig.
anyone know if this is the same cable, and will it work with the VCDS software if plugged into my laptop?

No it won't work, the VAG com software with matching cable is needed. It is all proprietery and so is the software, best not to screw with your VAG if you don't know the correct coding module to interface. however there is a good FAQ with the VAG web site and where you can purchase the cable. Ain't cheep. Maybe it might be best to have a local tuner do what you want.
