Anyone install keyless entry? Got some wiring questions?
Ok, I have a nice little keyless entry system for my truck. Couldn't see $200 for the factory one.
I already know were the parking light and constant wires are from hooking up my gauges.
I've done a remote start/keyless entry in a Chevy once, so in comparison, this should be a breeze. I wouldn't recommend doing the remote starts yourself. Not that its hard, just time consuming.
But my question, is what type of system is the door unlocking setup.
I found this: Bulldog Security wiring diagram
Anyone verify what system our trucks are? I have an 01 SLT with power locks/windows and overhead console. I am assuming its a Type C (+) Reversing Polarity.
My keyless system has 6 outputs available, so I'm assuming I should use the 6 pin diagram. However, mine is not a Bulldog.
What do you guys think?

I'm glad you dont have the bulldog....ugh. It's a 5 wire setup....go here and you can lookup the wire colors and locations.

Definately a 5 wire setup. You may need to wire up a couple of relays if the piece your installing does not have on-board relays. What brand is the keyless you have?
Here are the wire colors and locations you need.
DIRECTWIRE™ WIRING INFORMATION - DODGE / RAM PICKUP / 2001 / Keyless Entry
12volts red and pink/black + ignition harness
Starter yellow + ignition harness
Ignition dk. blue + ignition harness
Power Lock orange/purple 5wi driver door harness
Power Unlock pink/purple 5wi driver door harness
Parking Lights+ black/yellow headlight switch
Door Trigger yellow - headlight switch
