Anybody done this?

Well my air horns are here, so it's time to install. I was thinking of finding a three prong toggle switch and hooking it in line with the factory horn button. In one position the button would work the factory horn and in the other it would work the air horns. I could put the toggle switch any where on the dash. This way I could keep the factory horn for more descret times and with the flip of a swicth I could relly get someones attention as long as I had air in the tank.

I have the Viair 10007 system with 2.5 gallon tank and the 100% duty pump. It has a nice looking gauge and switch. Still trying to figure out where to mount the in cab controls. The air horns are from Siege engineering and look good. I am thinking of finding a way to mount all of it under/behind my ranchand bumber. Even if I have to mount the compressor and tank back under the bed, the horns will fit nicely right behind the lic. plate on the front bumber.

Anybody know the wire color code comining down the colume for the horn button? or have a better idea. I was going to wire it all independently of eveything else, but being able to just hit the regular horn button seems a lot better than haveing a second buttom somewhere else out of the way. What do you guys think?

in my opinion, no air horn should be slaved to a switch, but run on a manual valve, to be able to give it a lil or a lot or anywhere in between, making that horn talk, kinda like a attention, if you don't wake up, I'm really gonna lay into it........., Ya see a pretty girl and go blast that thing, the look you are gonna get isn't the same as a lil toot and a grin.

I could take off the selinoid and plumb it right to the air supply, what kind of valve are you using and where do you have it? I could bring it up through the floor close to the 4x4 shifter and put a 90 degree handle valve on some hard pipe there, that way it would be like reaching down to shift into 4x4 mode, just working the valve back and forth to control the sound.

The Air kits have a simular design. The horn wire is tapped to a two position toggle switch. In one position the vehicles horn activates the selonoid and the air horn and regular horn are activated(Of course you can't hear the reg. horn). The other position uses just the vehicle horn. I have the Hadley Bully horn. Most web sites have the diagrams available.

there is a knockout plug under the drivers seat, this is where the tubing goes in and out of. bit of airling sliced to make a gromet like edge protector for the hole, an dthe two airlines........ never noice any water comin in, not enough room left over. this is a pic of the ball valve, atatched to a bit of diamond plate. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ball_valve.jpg

Thats kinda what I thought you had in mind, I think I can find a way to do that, but dress it up a bit. I still like the horn button idea. The only draw back being not able to make it talk.

I got lazy and put a T-tap on the factory horn behind the driver head light, put a toggle switch on it and called it done. Good thing for the switch b/c for some reasons the police dont like my loud horn!!!!!
