Hi Guys,
I am looking into the possibilites of running Veg through a CR truck. I know the VP trucks don't like it much because of the viscosity, but has anyone tried it with a CR truck? If so, has it worked long haul?
This could be a Dodge, Ford, or D-Max Engine, as long as it is a CR fuel system.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

I've got 20K plus WVO miles(42k TOTAL). I know someone else with 50k plus with 160K plus total miles.
Not exactly long haul, but a start.....

I'd be cautious.
I work in biodiesel research, we've found that even with factory refined BD in excess of 70% that problems can occur with CRI engines. It all depends on the feed stock the BD is made from. With unrefined WVO I would assume the problems would be worse.
The problem is with the higher temps and pressure of CRI engines the BD can polymerize (get stringy) and plug things up.
Fuels made with the same types of oils that are generally bad for human health (lard, soy, etc) also tend to polymerize more readily. Good oils like canola, safflower are better.
Problem comes down to do you really know what the oil you are using is?

Hey Bill, I've been running a B30 mix of refined WVO the last couple of tanks. Its the first time I've tried Bio of this kind, and thought I'd give it a go for a couple of tanks. Mileage hasn't changed while running it either.
I wasn't expecting any problems running it like this - should I?
It certainly isn't the clear and brite yellow of the Soy based bio I usually run, but it smells better.

Chris, I don't understand what you mean by refined WVO.
If it's processed into BD I wouldn't worry one bit at B30.

Thanks Bill. I used the words refined WVO, my bad - the guy said it was processed restaurant oil. I didn't realize it until after I puchased 20 gallons of it, so I'm using it.
Up to that point I'd only run the "refined??" Soy based Bio in the truck and Jetta.
