Antifreeze in my floor board
Got my truck back from the dealer after getting one of the injectors replaced ($1200.00) and now I have antifreeze leaking into my floor board. I suppose one of the heater hoses is leaking inside the cab at or around the heater core. I jumpered a little piece of hose from the supply to the return on the engine for now but it is finally starting to cool down in the mornings here in Houston and I need to fix this before it gets to cold + I have no control of my air temp when the A/C is on. Does anyone have pictures of where these hoses go after they go through the firewall? Thanks

Actually the heater hoses attach directly to the heater core nipples at the firewall. If it's leaking in the cab it sounds like the heater core itself is leaking...thats a classic rule of thumb. Check and make sure your clamps are still attached to the hoses though.
The way the hvac box is designed, the heater core sits in it's own secluded "pocket" so to speak. If it's leaking, it's pooling up and finding a seam to escape from. Only fix for that is to remove the dash. It's not hard at all but it is a little time consuming.

Yeah I think the guys at the dealership must have been leaning on the heater hoses at the firewall while they were changing out a bad injector and probably cracked the nipple where the heater hose clamps to the heater core but on the inside of the firewall. OK well thank you and I guess I have a pretty good job ahead.

Too bad you couldn't prove the dealer caused the damage. I agree with what jhenson says. I have an '06 Megacab now, but used to have an "03 3500 Quad cab. I forget what work I had the dealership do under warranty, but it was something along the story you're telling, but somehow they broke my grab handle on my dipstick while they were crawling around the engine compartment. Noticed it right away, while the truck was still in the bay, still with the hood up. They said sorry, we'll order you a new on, should be here in a couple of days. I wound up making the manager go out into the new vehical lot, and pull a dipstick out of one of his new trucks on the lot, and replace the one they broke on my truck!

Man I did'nt notice until about 4 or 5 days after I got it back from the dealer so I did'nt even attempt to take it back. I think it would have probably just been a waist of fuel.

Yea I guess it could just be a coincidence. But most likely it happened there. I'm not saying this was done on purpose I mean they had to crawl up in ther where they were at to do the injector job, hey shiznic happens. You must be a mechanic at a dealership LOL.

OK finally got to pulling the dash to remove the HVAC unit. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Getting those **** AC lines loose at the evaporator was a beeatch though not enough room between the connections and the firewall. So it was just a coincidence, the bracket that holds the 2 aluminum lines that go into the heater core in place rubbed a hole in one of the lines. Sorry to the techs I blamed in my original thread. Sometimes **** happens.
