Antifreeze leak - where from?

On Friday morning the truck developed an antifreeze leak. > At first, it would only leak when the truck was first started in the morning to warm up and would drip about the size of 2 quarters. Now it also leaks when the truck is shut off. The leak is on the drivers side right where the frame attaches to the bumper. The drip is only following the overflow tube and not coming out of it.......Any idea what happened? My brand new concrete drive looks like heck! :'(
Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to clean off the engine and look carefully for it. Try usind a pressure washer and clean the front off real good. You should also crawl under the truck and look at the bottom of the water pump. There is a weep hole on the bottom that might be the culprit. From the sounds of things I suspect the water pump.

Re:Antifreeze leak - where from?

Check the seam between the plastic tank and radiator core - that is where mine has just recently developed a leak of about the same amount as yours. My fluid traveled down the wiring loom and initially dripped from the low point of the loom where it went under the driver's side frame rail to the temp sensor? - so it was showing the leak about a foot from the actual leak.

There is usually no repair that can be done on the plastic tank-core seam. I am just monitoring mine right now to see if it gets worse or goes away on its own. (My concrete driveway is 40 years old and in need of replacement so a few drips ain't bothering me.) I priced a new radiator at $250 shop cost/ $357 retail. OUCH!

Good luck and keep an eye on the reservoir level. It don't do these trucks much good to run sans coolant.

Re:Antifreeze leak - where from?

My anti-freeze leak turned out to be a defective radiator cap. Be sure to have your cap checked for pressure. It will dump out a lot sometimes and make a mess. Cap is cheap fix if you happen to be that lucky.
