Anti Lock brake light

The ANTILOCK BRAKE and BRAKE warning light is coming on. This is now the third time this has occured. It usually happens after about 4 hours of continuous driving. Everything else is fine and the truck drives great. 2006 4x4 3500 Dually. Any suggestions. Thanks, Tim

You will probably have to replace the VSS on top of the rear axle.

VSS is the speed sensor. Mine went out back around 50,000 miles.

Replacing the VSS corrected the problem. About $15.00 and 10 min was all it took. Thanks Roadmedic.

I found the answer here back when I needed. Glad to pass it on to another.

Vehicle Speed Sensor

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) uses VSS information to determine when a wheel is locked up and releases pressure to that wheel to maintain directional stability. Some vehicles use seperate sensors for the ABS, but it is common that the computer uses the information from the wheel sensors to act as a VSS.

Thanks ChrisTaylor. Is there just one sensor that collects information from each wheel or multiple sensors e.g. one for each wheel?
