I am in the market to get a water/meth kit for my truck. I just have a few questions that I can't find the answer too that I am hoping you can help me out with.

I have decided to go the coolingmist direction but need opinions on which pump I need. The 150 or 250psi and why (what are the drawbacks). And what size tank should I get, I do tow quite a bit, and take quite a few 1500 mile trips per year.

Im at around 475hp now and my shop recommended me to get the 220psi pump. Might be overkill, im not sure. He uses it in his pull truck.
You could always go with smaller nozzles to change the volume.. and probably benefit with better atomization.
As for the tank, Id try to get an idea of where your temps are, where you want your injection point to be and how much you wind up using. Im starting out with just the stock resevoir for now, but I dont tow heavy.

with twins.... go for the 220psi pump. like kawi said, better atomization esp with bigger boost numbers.

If just for towing....smaller pump is all you'll need .... and one nozzle. Play with different sizes.
Several towers have this set up and it does fine.

Only drawback to bigger pump is cost. You could get that and just set your injection "spread" so the full pressure never comes in!

Bigger the tank the better. If in the mountains... you can use a lot of fluid... not to mention 1500 mile trips.
Really all depends on your tow weight. The heavier you are, the more fluid you need and will use.

Thanks a bunch for the input. I was leaning towards the 250psi coolingmist kit, I don't believe they have a 220. From past mistakes I have realized that not spending the extra dollar up front will cost me later.

I go thru a gallon in about an hour when I tow. I run one 325ml nozzle and a 220 psi pump. I second the bigger tank idea.

I even got better fuel mileage when I tow using the methanol -40deg f windshield fluid (its cheap and easy to find). I just bought 4 gallons for $10 bucks.

I bet that I picked up 1 mpg by using it. I even ran my truck on cruise control. I have my system pretty much tuned in. I picked up 70rwhp on the dyno, by running it. Just need a larger tank for it.

What made you decide to go with the Cooling Mist over a Snow Performance unit?

A bit cheaper and have heard much better reviews of them. Friends that have snow just say they have water meth, the ones that use coolingmist talk about it and how happy they are with it

Some of the rewiews you've read may have been before Snow's introduced their Stage III.

For a while CoolMist had a better towing setup (due to EGT settings). I personally believe both companies now have excellent systems.
A few more bells and whistles with CoolMist... if you're into that, but once you have it set where you want it...I suspect they don't get used. Just more room for electical problems, IMO. And I prefer Snow's nozzles.... better atomization (my comparison was done two yrs ago).
But can't really go wrong with either set up. JMO.

I can believe everything just said. I just cannot justify spending close to one thousand dollars on any water/meth system whether its made by snow or coolingmist. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have that Snow stage 3, but I am just fine with the mid level system. And to get a good set-up through Snow I am looking to spend close to 500 when I can get about the same thing from coolingmist for 100-150 less. That is unless you know of a better place to buy snow's products other than on their website.

Your money.....your choice! Have not closely compared the two in a few yrs. so....no arguement from me!
In all honesty, I did not realize they had gotten so expensive!

Four yrs ago, I paid $400 for a used Snows Stage II, with a 220 psi pump and two 625 mps nozzles, a tapped air horn and tapped washer fluid bottle!
Upgraded, this yr, to all metal elbows, nozzle holders and 'T' for $90.00.
I'd have a hard time justifying $900.00+ also.

Yea I was not expecting a pump/hose/wire's/ and nozzles to be so pricey either. The new Snows State 2 full kit is about 700$ with a one quart tank. I priced it out just buying the pump and nozzles and such from them. I wish I could find the kit you have for that price. I'm going to have to search your pictures for some photos of your set up.

You might check the Web... both companies use Sur-Flo Pumps, I believe. Could probably mix & match your own set together for less??

We are on the same page. I have been doing a lot of searching all afternoon to mix and match my own kit. The hardest thing to find though is a good tank that I can convert to store the water meth. I am hoping to find at least a 7 gallon tank that I can convert. To me, 100$ is a bit ridiculous for a 7 gallon tank.
I must sound like a cheap skate.

You can do a RV water tank. They have them in 6 and 10 gallon and bigger.
Drill a 2" or 3" hole in it and use a PVC threaded floor drain fitting and a threaded cap.

It would cost less than $50.00
