Another tire thread, its time for new rubber!

I had a set of BFGoodrich Commercial TAs and they sucked. But they sucked all time, and were very consistent so if it was snowing, I knew how they would handle and I just slid the truck around the corner and went on with life.

The last set I put on were BFGoodrich All-Terrain TAs and they suck, and not in a good way. They are tough as nails but will give up traction with no warning at all and wont regain traction till they feel like it which seems different every time.

Not knocking BFGoodrich here, both tires are tough as nails and I’ve yet to get stuck anywhere but they just don’t suit my driving style.

I was looking at some Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos

Anyone had them, anyone like them?

If all else fails I'll probably just go back to the Commercial TAs they have a much higher load rating and I was MUCH more comfortable driving on them.

Michelin LTX

I've never had BFG AT's, but had the MT's and they were crap (IMO). They wore horribly.

I have BFG Rugged Trail T/A's on now, they seem alright, but I don't have many miles on them yet.

BFG are very good tires! The Commercial are a heavy duty street tire. the AT KO's are very good on/mild offroad tire, even have severe weather rating! Michelin MT and AT are the longest wearing tires, but a street tire.
The Revo's are OK,they don't last as long as the other tires, or get traction as good as the BFG AT KO's. They do get better traction than the Commercials or any Michelins.

I own a tire shop and run BFG AT KO's on all my 4wd trucks. I sell all brands and I run what I think the best all around tire is!

BFG tires both the AT and MT are very popular with the off-road crowd. The AT geared more towards the highway guys who like to hit the dirt from time to time. I've never heard many complaints about them other then weak sidewalls for rockcrawling.

Factory Original Goodyears peel like a retread on me at 32,000 miles. Said no more badyears after that, next put Michelin ATX 245's and they lasted good but I two wrecks, they did not grab the road good after they had some miles on 'em. 3rd set larger 285 Cooper LTX Discoverer. Man they hold the road ! Unfortunately they are about worn because they did not need near the psi my 245s did. My 245's always wore on the outside no matter how high I pushed the psi. These 285's started wearing in the center so I kept dropping pressure but I obviously did not drop enough fast enough. They wore out in the middle and the outer tread looks almost new ! I'll probably go Cooper again.

I bought some Maxxis Bravo 751 the other day for 480.00 installed. 265/57/16 They are good tires and I have had Maxxis on my camper for years with no problem. Couldn't stand paying 800.00 for Michelins or Revos. I think these will be good tires. Check out the website. www.maxxis.com They have highway to offroad in most sizes with 10 ply.

I had the mastercraft mt's and bfg at/ko's........now I have the revo's. I would have said there is never ever gonna be a better tire then the at/ko, but the revo is SOOOOOOOOOO much better everywhere but in the gooey mud. the highway manners are amazing, my truck always vibrated with the ko's, had em rebalanced....nothing, revos....dead smooth and quiet. the real seller is the way they handle wet roads, the ko's did good till there was a puddle at speed, they have to be the hydoplaningest tire ever....the revo, well you will never even know it was there. the ko's and revo's are really close in fresh snow, the revo's are deffinetly better if is packed/icy....and my ko's were siped and the revo's not. I believe the ko's last longer, the revo's are softer, but the way the revo handles is worth my money. oh and for the master crafts, I gave them away w/20k miles on em they were a total waste of money.

I am running the BF M/T and have good luck I guess, I have 88,000 miles on them, I think I will go back to the Michelins this fall though, I think after the summer the BF's will have about 95,000, and about 30%left, so I'll suck it up and invest in tires.

AMEN

WOW I cant believe I forgot all the fall rain storms where I loaded my pants when my truck would not only hydroplane but drag itself into puddles making my life even worse!

I think I'm getting revos for my truck and my mother's van

I haven't had the chance to change my tires yet, (55,000 mi on the stock Michlins) but when I do, I hope to get some TOYO tires, I haven't heard anything but good about them.

I bought a set of cooper discoverer STT's. Nice tire, quiet for the aggressive tread, grip well on/off road wet or dry. wearing well. only thing i noticed different is i have a little sway at high speeds if i steer back and forth quickly. I'm guessing the sidewalls aren't as stiff as my previous tires.
also have had a set of yokohama geolander mt's. very nice tire too. wore great.

I am on my second set of Revo's. They have been very good tires. The first set I got about 54k out of them and could have went farther but winter was starting and I didnt want to go through winter with low tread. This second set is at 57k now and do need to be replaced. There is still some tread left but they are getting low. They have been great in everything except gooey mud. Probably some of the best tires I have ever run. By the way costco sells them and if they dont ahve them can special orfder them and the cost was the best I could find anywhere.

My $.03,

Have run my 285/75-16 Revos (Load range D) for approximately 42,000 miles on chip sealed roads and gravel - ready for new tires. Rotated them every 5,000 miles and checked tire pressure monthly. The tire rubber is definitely soft and grips the road. Tires handle all road conditions except for deep gumbo mud. Travel mountain roads and passes so see all different weather conditions during the year. Am putting on another set of Revos in Load Range E to see if my mileage can be extended. Definitely worth the money.

FastSS: I just bought my second set of Cooper Discoverer AT. My truck came from Dodge with those French junkers(Michelin) they were worn out at 42k, at that time I went with the first set of Coopers. they were still legal at 101,500mi. So after getting 59k trouble free miles out of them, I said time for another set. "Ironbutt"
