Another Smarty Beta Rave

Well guys, I hate to start another thread raving about the new beta software but.....

I recieved the new software two days ago. All I can say is wow. I was previously using the latest wild update stacked with a quadzilla pressure box and was very happy with it, however when towing heavily EGTs were **** near uncontrollable on the higher settings with it (I have a stock turbo, duh!). I talked to Bob and he suggested I try out the Beta 4.4 software. So I popped in the Beta and loaded #5. Like others have noted, as soon as I started the truck with it, the truck was noticeably quieter at idle. When I took off was when I really said holy crap! The new beta has way way way more power on the top end. Down low it is on par with the wild software (maybe even a little stronger) however it is much stonger up higher in the RPM range (+2k). The other thing that I like about it is it is extremely responsive (like the wild) hoever it doesn't feel like all the power is in the first 1/4 of the pedal, the further you push the harder it goes. Now the first day of running it was a little decieving because I have been having issues with tranny contamination...I think my TCC is starting to come apart, which in turn is causing contamination of the governor solenoid. So last night I serviced the tranny and cleaned up the solenoid....now tranny is being good again. On the first take off with the tranny fixed, I put it to the floor from a stop. WOW...spun the tires through 2nd and into third. This is with the quad box turned OFF....I couldnt' do that with the wild program on #9 stacked with the quad box. This morning I finally got to pull a heavy load up some decent grades. For those of you not familiar with I-5 north of Redding there are some decent six percent grades. I was pulling about 12k in trailer load. With the wild program stacked with the quad, I had enough power to pull any of those grades with the same load, however I was having to back down to about 55 or 60 to keep EGT's under 1300. Today with Beta I turned the quad off and went at the grades...I went all out up every one...I only hit 1300 once on the steepest one going nearly 70 mph passing soccer moms. It seems that on average EGT's are at least 150 degrees cooler than the old software. Now the interesting thing to note is now I dont seem to be getting a whole lot more out the stack with the quad. Before I could definately tell when I had it turned on, now I can feel it a little more on the top end, but it really doesn't seem to give me that much more (I think I am at the CP3's limit now, if I wasn't before). Tomorrow night, J and H Performance is hosting a Diesel rally and will have a dyno on site. I plan to go down and throw the truck on the dyno to see what it is doing. So far I am very impressed with the new software. Very smooth and very strong. Way to go Bob and Marco...you guys are great!

The only negative thing I have to say about the smarty is that my tranny hates it. My tranny has DTT goodies in it, however since I have started using smarty, I have been having problems with the governor pressure solenoid getting contaminated with excess material in the pan (I think it is TCC material). This isn't smarty's fault by any means...Obviously it is producing much more torque and power than what i was using before and is taxing the tranny. I can see a tranny rebuild is in the near future for me.
