Aluminum wheel swap

I know this question has been asked before and I searched for a clear answer. I couldn't really find a good answer though. My question is about putting the aluminum wheels off of a '00-'02 truck on my '96 2wd. I know about machining the drums in the back. The confusion is on the frontend. Some say that on a '96 you shouldn't have to do much while others say that you'll have to grind the knuckle and stuff. Anybody know for sure? Thanks

im chiming in cause i saw u are from lancaster. i hate to say that im not sure about the 2wd trucks but i did the swap on my 97 4x4. i dont think id do it again. i got them pretty cheap but next time id spend a little more money and go with after market rims. then there is no need for modifying drums. i couldnt find anyone to machine my drums so after talking to another fellow on here my brother and i ground them down ourselves. it took 4ever. has your kdp been fixed yet ?? maybe its a non-issue on the 96, ill let some1 else comment on that. if it needs to be done there is a good guy on here that may be able to give u hand. good luck with the wheels, scott

I'll have to keep my eyes open for your truck dieselcrazy. Thanks for info on the wheels too. I'm not worried about the rear drums at all, I've got that covered. Just wondering about the front suspension.

What aftermarket wheels offer 6" backspacing on an 8" wheel? I couldn't find any.

I'm not sure if the kdp has been fixed or not yet. I think Proramsds is going to take care of it once he recovers from his surgery and has time. Then I'll start adding some more power.

How far are ya'll from Uniontown? KDP alive and kicking! Don't forget w/ aluminum wheels, to keep a close eye on and keep torques up on your lug nuts. Lost a wheel off my 7.3 w/ 3 horses in g/n behind me. Sucked. Dog in the back didn't care for it much either

Duke,

You're about a hour and 15 minutes away from me. I live just outside Lancaster in Lititz.

Dieselcrazy: Where at in Paradise? My dad grew up there and I had a g/f from there.
