I see alot of diesel trucks at the strip when i go, just wondering if any of you guys take your trucks to the track and what kind of times you get.

I'm not planning on making mine a racer by any means, but a trip now and then might be fun. And i can see what the gradual power adding does for me.

I went to the 1/4 a few eeks ago. My truck is not all that fast, but it sure is fun to do, and i can usually hold my own against most other stock vehicles, and in most cases beat them depending on what they are. My times are in my signature for 1/4 and 1/8th. The 3k GSK knocked 1/2 a second off my 1/8th mile time. Pretty good little gain for $125. Should be getting a torque converter soon too . It sure is fun to run at the strip. When i went i raced a 6.0l powerstroke twice and turned a better tiem than him both times, and i also smoked this little Audi somehow. It was slow.

Hopefully this link to my video will work? Here it is:

Did a 14.92 @ 102 mph....at 7500 lb.
Have retired till I get billet shafts. This run was with 12 psi boost, on the line (more than I planned on). Boost comes in so fast, when it starts, that I can't control it. Don't want to break anything; only way I know to do that is not to run. Miss it!

There are many members here that like the drag strip....several guys in the 12 sec range.

14.92 @ 102 mph? There is definitely a quicker et lurking in that motor with that mph......I would expect bottom 14's at that mph......just need to get a good launch......easier said than done, I know. I was able to lay down a 13.90 @ 101 mph in my 2500......4WD 15 psi launch.......no billet shafts, so I know I'm just asking for trouble! I have no plans to head back to the strip any time soon.......especially without a more stout tranny!

On my last outing I ran a 13.18. I was having some issues with building boost and I had turned the drag comp down to 5X3 on that pass and still ran 98mph although it felt like the truck fell on it's face due to the lack of fuel. I'm pretty confident that it will run 12.8 to 12.9 just the way it sets now that I have my issues straightened out. I just haven't had the time to run over and try it out. And I live 15 miles from the track. I've got some new Mach 4s and the MAD ecm to try out now also.

4wd launches. Just how do you guys do that. I am almost afraid to try. I assume that you have it in 4wd, build boost and let it go and then somewhere down the track you shift it back to 2wd.

I have not tried that yet, should I try on dirt first to see what happens. At least there would be a little give for the tires and whatever.

I do it but I also have billet shafts in my tranny. My best 60 foot time to date is a 1.66 and it was actually an accident. I was having trouble building boost so I turned my box down to 5X3 and let it set there until I had boost showing. It went from 0 psi to 25+ psi in an instant without anything inbetween so I just turned the truck loose. My best guess is I was somewhere between 25 and 30 pounds. The poor sap in the Mustang never had a chance and he was running drag radials. he came over afterwards and asked how that big truck was launching like that.

I can only imagine

I miss my 1st gen with a DTT tranny and some billet parts. That would blow my new 2005 away I bet the first 200 feet without a problem. It would launch really good and hard when I needed it to.

But I LOVE the ride of my 2005. Just wait till the miles get on and then start bombing a little here and there. Silencer ring is already missing. Threw on a 5" chromed stack for a intake mod and the turbo does sing alittle bit better now.

Almost time for a good air filter and some type of exhaust, prefer duals cause they look so nice. Then comes a box to help with that right foot problem I have.... pedal to the metal...

Some of you guys are moving! And in huge trucks non the less. I bet i could hit some low 8's in the 1/8 by this time next year. I dont think i could do much in the 1/4 with the 3 speed.

What kind of milage do you guys get running those kind of power numbers?

MPG really doesn't suffer as you add power. I am at 350 800+ and my MPG hasn't changes much at all. 17 if I play a lot and drive in the city and up to 20 if I am easy on her.

I need a clutch before I take mine to the strip. If I slip it in second at 1800 the clutch heats up and starts slipping once I make the shift to 3rd.

You will never be able to get it back in 2WD going down the track, not with that much power going through the T-case. I put it in as I'm slowing down at the end of the run.

My best in the 1/4 is 15.3 @ 90mph. DTT trans. is next...just a couple of weeks away now. I haven't run it since I went to 4" straight pipe, I'm sure it will make some improvement.

i launch mine in 1st gear 4x4....its low and pulls hard, i cut 2.0 60' times shifting, and i push it into 2wd after the shift to 3rd...works everytime, and i am sitting just under 400hp and 900tq with more power and a new clutch i will be launching in second and looking for 1.8's and low 14's with just a tad more power than i have now...big thing is i need a turbo becasue my temps are way up there at the 1/4 mile mark...which cant be good for the truck

My best time has been 12.87 @ 106. That is with the comp box on 4x5, and a lot of heat (need bigger turbo), and traction problems. I normally race with the comp box on 3x5, and that makes me run 13.50's @ 99mph. At this level I dyno'd at 455hp and 923ft lbs. I am currently first in both the sportman class at my local track, and in the NHRdA Pro 2 class. With a little practice these trucks can do very well racing. With the weight of my truck ~7000lbs, it takes a lot of hp change to change the E.T. It makes them very consistient.

Talking My best is a 12.11

I was able to get a 12.11 launching in 4wd,at 15lbs of boost was also locking the converter right of the line won't do that any more.I think thats why I shattered my flex plate. I'm going to try lockup at the 1/8mile after throwing it into 2wd.Had great 60ft times though usually in the1.6s.The 1/8 mile times are usually in the mid 7s. EGTS are never over 1500degs. She's an awesome ride when she's running well. Been breaking a few drive train parts lately.Trying for the 11s without nitros.

Quick Reply: With all this crazy power, has anyone gone to the 1/4?
