It's in. After sitting in my office for about two weeks I finally got around to installing the Airdog fuel system.

I believe that this product may be the best engineered kit I've used in a long while. Overall the fit and finish is excellent. Also, I did notice that the pump motor has brushes you can replace. The kit included absolutely everything I needed to install a new fuel system from the tank to the CP3 high pressure pump. The install was all plug and play, I didn't have to cut any wires and the system plugged into the factory lift pump wiring and fuel lines with no modifications to anything. The total install took me about three hours from start to finish. One hour of that was spent fabbing rubber mounts for the fuel pump bracket because I was concerned about the noise level of this giant pump (compared to the stock washer fluid pump, oops, I mean lift pump) .

I had considered leaving the stock fuel filter cannister and stock lines to the CP3 in place. I changed my mind after seeing the extremely small diameter stock line from the filter to the CP3. It had to be 5/16 or smaller. I couldn't see putting this new hi-perf system on and then choking it down at the very end.

If there was any concern about noise with system, I can tell you that it is so quiet that I thought I did something wrong with my install and that the pump was not running.

As for MPG or extra power I'll have to wait and see. Also, the engine might be slightly quieter. I'm waiting on a fuel pressure gauge from Geno's so I'll see about fuel pressure next week.

I thought one other good feature is, The whole stock fuel system can stay on the truck as a backup. You would just have to reconnect it at the CP3 and the tank, then reconnect the stock lift pump wiring and you could be up and running in no time. If you wanted to get crazy you could put a bottom feed on your tank to run the Airdog then leave the factory line hooked up at the fuel sender. Then you could put a tee in the line going to the CP3 to splice in the stock line with some kind off ball valve. Then if you had any kind of failure you would only have to unplug the wiring connector and plug back in the factory lift pump the flip two ball valves. You could be up and running in a couple of minutes.

I agree!!! and I'm VERY happy with my AirDog. I also have mine hooked up the same way and carry the banjo bolt in the glovebox. My truck is a lot more quiet and smooth but I don't see any mpg gain and didn't expect any. The best part I believe is the 3 micron filtering. I have had 3 injectors replaced in this truck and since putting in the AirDog have not had any more problems (knock on wood). I think these injectors require more than the factory 10 micron filter. The AirDog water separator is also much better than the factory unit.

With the AirDog my truck does run quieter and gets a little better fuel milage. The quality and fit is excelant. I feel better about my cp3 and injecters with the better filtration.

JerryR, have you drained a lot of water out of the separator?

Perfect timing on the review. I just talked to Charles the other day about his system. And though I didnt feel I was getting a high pressure sales pitch he is nonetheless the owner of the company and just might be slightly biased. My only real concern left was the install and it sounds like it was as he stated. Just need to make that final decision between the Airdog or the RASP and make the call.

Did you guys buy the product from the manufacturer or a dealer. Reason I ask I haven't seen it advertised anywhere.

The only place I have seen it besides from the manufacturer was at www.dieselmanor.com They had the same price but threw in an extra filter or two. When I asked Charles about order turnaround time he said as long as his dealers didnt place a large order it would be by 2pm that day other wise it might take a couple days, which led me to beleive that there were other dealers but I didnt ask who they were.

I bought mine directly from the manufacturer and got it in about 3 days.

Does anyone know that the input operating pressure range is for the CP3 pump? I've heard minimum of 3psi, but thats all i've heard. What pressure readings do the guys running aftermarket pumps see with the 3rd gens?

I think the airdog is completely overpriced for what you get. Basically what you get is a complete pusher pump kit, with a cute air/water separator gimmick. I would much rather save the money, and get a straight pusher pump kit, like the new FASS pump only, not system. Its like $375 or something for the entire kit including all hoses/fittings etc. At the end of the day what you really want is consistent PSI's to the engine, and good filtration. You can keep the stock filter and plumb in an additional heated filter of your choosing anywhere in line if you so desire.

The website shows $670!! Is this right? Thats about the same price to the RASP system.

The airdog is about 670 but that is complete, plumbing, all fittings, harnesses etc. The rasp is about the same but you still have to plumb it in. While I think DTT and certainly Mr. Poole have complete plumbing kits that have all the extras you need it adds about another 300.00 to the price. Though you could certainly put together your own plumbing kit for the RASP for less than the 300 or so but their leg work and labor to put it together is worth something. Mr Pooles kit comes complete assembled and ready to install dont know about DTT's. In the end it is up to each individual to decide if the price/value is acceptable to them.

I have drained it three times and once I noticed a few drops of water, but this is the time of year that if you don't keep your tank full you will get a little in tank condensation. As far as the AirDog being expensive, they all are: RASP, FASS and AirDog. I prefer the AirDog, and if it keeps me from having any more injector problems it's well worth it and my truck just runs better with it.

I am currently testing a custom pump that I can dial in from 0-60 psi, its a 160 gph pump and I currently have it set at 17 psi.

I like the theory of the other systems and the originality of the RASP.

Ligthman, I realize that The Airdog is expensive but to me it seems to be worth it. I don't think I'll have to worry about any fuel system problems for a long while. Of course I'm biased now since I have to defend my purchase decision. But it really seems like a top notch product.

I feel confident that I can add a TST now without having any problems either. I myself am not totally convinced about the Air Separation qualities of the unit though. I can say that after I started using Power Service and 2 stroke oil and now adding the Airdog my truck sounds like a different vehicle.

To me the price is comparable to putting a racing fuel system in our drag car only alot cheaper.

Scotty , stop messing around with fuel pumps and get that Gauge Pod done!! Just kidding, keep up the good work.
