Airbags or Timbrens
Here's the deal. I'll be towing my 5er about 12 times a year anywhere from 50 miles to 1,000 miles each trip. It weighs, loaded, about 8,500 lbs. Will I benefit from Timbrens($165) or should I spend the extra $ & get Firestone airbags($250). If the Timbrens will work just fine, what weight rating should I get(6K or 8K, etc.)? MOST IMPORTANTLY, I don't want a bouncy, rough ride. TIA

I just got back a 650 mi. trip & the ride wasn't too bad. I think I should of stated I wanted it to ride more level. Before I installed my leveling kit, it set level hooked up. Since I installed a leveling kit my front rides high & my headlights are useless. Which would be better to get back to level?

I have the DR2500CA (6,000lb) Timbren kit on my truck. I installed them without the spacers so they do not effect my unloaded ride. They are an install/forget part with no adjustments needed. They work great for hauling loads of mulch or firewood and pretty much eliminated porposing over bumps with our travel trailer. We usually have alot of firewood and gear in the bed when we go camping and the Timbrens made a big difference. Compared to the cost of airbags with onboard-air, Timbrens are hard to beat for the price. Here are two pics of my truck, one unloaded and one with 22 bags of mulch:

I prefer the Timbrins. I had airbags on the Ford, they were ok, no problem.
the timbirins on my QC are terific. took a load of vermiculite waste to my frineds house today, approx 10800 on ht escales on the way over there. Barely settled onto the timbrin.

I love my timbrens , my truck is loaded everyday. even when we had 4000lbs of oak in it. even really over loaded they held up well. even when they were and inch tall.

Come on, spend a few extra bucks and get the real deal. You can get a set of Firestone AirBags from Summit Racing for like $240.00 bucks. Then you can adjust the height of your truck to any load you carry.

When I was trying to decide which way to go, the parts guy had a good point. A truck with a constant load timbrens would be better and different loads air bags would be better. I bought the timbrens and love them, lifetime warranty and zero maintance. My truck wieghs in at 11000 lbs, thats an everyday wieght and I do put loads in the box and hook on trailers. The timbrens work great.

I opted for the air bags because of adjustability. They work GREAT. I had Timbrens on my last truck, they worked well too. If I was doing a new truck again, airbags in a NY minute, no brainer after having had them both.

I think I'll be going w/ the Firestone Riderites. They are on ebay for $189+$31 shipping. I believe the ones I need are the 2299's. For those of you w/a 2500, is this the part # ya'll got & if so, what #'s are they weighted @? TIA
