i have an 06 2500 megaacab 4x4 diesel, I want to put some airbags on it so i can pull a big (ish) 5ver. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

How much are you towing with them? My real concern is the 35" tires I have.

I've got Firestone Riderites as well. They have a 5,000 lb carrying capacity at 100 psi. On top of that you still have your regular springs on the rear of your truck. I just use the air springs to level out the truck.

I tow anywhere from 3500 to 13,000 lb with my dump trailer and it handles ANY tongue weight I can throw at it.

FYI, get a good air compressor with it as well. The cost initially hurts, but you will not be sorry with a good compressor.

I've been pretty happy with my Timbren overload cushions. I pull approx. 17K lbs of gooseneck trailer, skidsteer and attachments almost daily, and they keep the truck from squatting much. No adjustments either. But the firestones do look nice, my buddy has them and likes them.

Had a lot of rear bounce with my trailer. Airbags (pakbrake, but any would work) almost totally alleviated the problem. I inflate them to 35psi. Well worth the money and an easy afternoon install.

Be careful of too much weight. Airbags don't change the GVWR of your truck. Think four times about how big(ish) that fiver is. I was blown away by the difference in handling the same trailer when I moved from my 2500 to the 3500. You don't have a lot of leeway in adding weight to a 2500.

Thanks Bob, that's the stuff I'm worried about. I am considering trading mine in for a dually. Probably still want the airbags though.

I had the airbags on my 2500 MegaCab. They did level it our under weight.
They did NOTHING for the fact that I was overloading the tires. 8380 lbs on tires rated for 6010.
I needed to upgrade to a dually and have done so.

If you upgrade to a dually you gain a whole bunch of things for towing. I found a great increase in stablility. As for still needing airbags, if you exceed the GVWR of the truck with pin weight, you will probably be exceeding the GCWR of the truck. You should not need air bags also. Take a peak at the pic below and you can get an idea of what I pull.

My pinweight is 3200 fully loaded for a long trip and 1/2 full of fresh water. With a 50 gallon in bed fuel tank full, two of us plus some tools in the truck and the hitch I still have about 200 or so pounds before I hit the GVWR. My fiver is 36'10" long and heavy. You would be pulling some kind of rig to go much heavier than that. Carriage is not known for being light - - just good. LOL
