Air Dog?
Thinking about ordering an Air Dog pretty quick and wanted to know other peoples opinion. I know I'll lose mechanical ability but like the idea of electricals self priming capability. Just basically asking is it worth the hefty price and how often do you change the filters? Any info would be appreciated
Sooner or later I'll need the change because I plan on adding fuel and I'm sure stock pump is maxed out now

just keep in mind filters are $23 a piece... oh and if your alternator goes out your screwed. I've liked mine, haven't had any issues with it and I'll never outgrow it... but its pricey and not really necessary for a mediate modded truck if you ask me, if your shootin for 450 to 500+ horse then i might be worth getting. I'd recommend a low pressure piston pump if not.

I have an AirDog 100 on a 2001, 3 years 25k miles on it. Had one problem with it, I did not buy or put it on the truck. AirDog sent me the parts to fix it free. It was just some plastic fuel things under the filter, still worked with out them. The last owner had put the filter on too tight.

I ordered mine yesterday and got it today. Got the last one from the TX warehouse. I haven't seen it yet but I'm told it comes with everything you need for install. Still trying to find some time to install it

I bought my Airdog II 200gph used. It came off a p pumped truck but it came with most the hose and stuff to make it work. I had t turn the regulator down to 13-14 psi and I bought the ve hose fitthing from Airdog to get it to work with my ve pump. I just put a T in the fuel line for a fuel pressure gauge. I have a custom fuel sump its hooked up to and I just put the return from the Airdog on my stock pickup tube outlet and left my factory return as where it was at. Fit perfectly

Yep the new VE fitting just clicks on and off like the fuel lines on the sending unit, its kinda nice if you need to remove it from the pump.
No hellman sump, I engineered and designed my own custom sump and had my brother machine it for me since he works at a machine shop and has turned into a top notch machinist.
This design is much better than the hellman sump in my opinion and can be installed without dropping the tank (even though I had mine dropped cuz I was cleaning it out when installed) So far it has worked superb and no leaks at all, also the 1/2" ball valve I added is nice for a fuel shut off or changing the airdog filters, or if i ever needed to drain the tank even though there is a small allen head plug on the back of the sump for draining as well.
I think the Airdog 165 is plenty for a VE truck. I only bought this 200gph because it was for a good deal and used. The Airdog II is nice because of the adjustable regulator so i can turn my fuel pressure up when I install a 14mm VE pump with a loctited front seal...

I have run both electric and stock for years now.

Sweet looks like a nice quality part, IMO I think these airdogs run better with a sump. Are all of the lines for the system 1/2"? Do you happen to have a picture of the return line back into the tank, and maybe a one of the fittings on the VE? Thanks for the help

I agree. The sump is a great idea for fueling. It actually pushes fuel to the Airdog by gravity and wont suck air. Only bad thing is if you ever get water in your tank its gonna go to the bottom of the tank which is why my sump is designed to suck fuel out of the top of the sump in case there is ever water in there it wont suck that up but it can be drained off. The Airdog should take care if that as well though. I don't have a pic of the return line but I can get a pic of the VE fitting when I get a chance. All of them have 1/2" fuel hose which is plenty, looks like a garden hose goin into the pump almost ha ha.

I got the Airdog 150 which should be more than enough. I'm just gonna use the suction tube that came in the kit. Like Smokin blacky said, the 1/2 lines are huge haha. I haven't had time to install it yet, because we have been cutting rice. The kit comes with every thing and the directions are pretty good too. I mean you can't really mess it up. I'll try and take some pictures when I install it too. Oh, another thing I likable with the mounting bracket there is no drilling required. Just two plates that squeeze it to the frame.

I assume you have the lift pump in the tank which means you have to drop tank and re-design your old lift pump as a suction module. Many instructions are out there and most of them want you to drill 2 x 9/16" holes in the sides of the old lift pump housing at the bottom for fuel flow to the suction. And after reading this many users had problems with 1/4 tank sucking air and or running out of fuel - I guess they were at steep angles and low on fuel, not sure. I never let my truck run lower than 1/2 a tank as I have a pump and 75 gallon tank on my 2000 flatbed. I would do a lot of reading and talk to pureflow if you feel you need to, pulling the tank is no fun and if your not very careful drilling in your old lift pump you could crack the housing.
Good Luck!!

Our lift pumps are mounted to the engine. The housing just has hose and a fuel level thingy.
