Air conditioner pipe joints
Some help please guys. I need to remove the radiators from my truck and I can't figure out how to disconnect the a/c pipe between the radiator and the compressor. I have removed the clip over the "doughnut" joint but I can't see how it comes apart

Need a special removal tool for about 10 bucks from advance auto, atozone, etc. Comes in a set for different sized hoses.
I was in the same boat as you last summer. I have even posted a thread on how to disconnect them. Should be easy to find it, I think it was titled: "How to disconect AC lines" or something like that.
Not hard to do once you have the tool. KD

Thanks KD,
I don't know if I will be able to get one locally but I will give it a try! Is there a particular name for this tool?
As I understand it, there is a spring around the lip at the joint which needs to be expanded outwards to release things? Is it possible to use a split piece of tubing with a tapered end around the pipe to apply pressure upwards ino the joint thus expanding the spring?
I have not been able to find your previouse thread on this.

dont know about name, there are different types, some are metal scissor type tools, some are round white plastic looking ( this type has the most sizes-options in one pack. ) some are color coded per size, blue,red,black,white... most people i bet end up getting those white ones cause they include most sizes, and these also do a bunch of other vehicles including fuel lines, vac lines, a/c lines, trans lines...
