Looking for information for a bolt on air compressor for a 2004 1/2, it needs to push 150 psi for train horns?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Harbor Freight has one for around $60. but you really need a tank as well to hold enough volume to make the horns work properly. You can also go to the web sites advertising train air horns and use one of theirs but they're usually more expensive.

Which "train" horn are you installing?

I have a Nathan AirChime K3LA, 5 gallons of air, 175psi, manual valve, and an Air Zenith OB2 compressor. No inverter needed since it's all 12VDC.

Kilby makes one for the 3rd gen's ('03 - '06) and Extreme Outback makes one for the newer Cummins 6.7L engines and has kits for all gas and diesel engines.

I plan on doing the Extreme Outback install this summer ..... expect a write up.

I've got an Air-zenith as well. 12 volts DC, 100% duty cycle at 200 psi. Its an impressive pump.

brad, you have to check out HMX-1 set up. Kris has a SWEEEET set up and going to do a killer engine driven compressor.

Please, please, PLEASE ..... do NOT waste your cash on the Kleinn. They're an okay horn at best, the warranty isn't what it should be compared to other horns I've seen, and you can't get replacement parts (diaphragms and cushions) if you need them.

Spend a couple bucks more and get a complete kit from HornBlasters, or start with a "horn only" kit like this one (I highly recommend this one):

Then you just add the tank and compressor kit to it and you'll be set.

i already have the horns on my truck for two years and have not had any trouble yet !!! just wanting to upgrade the compresser and tank to get longer and louder!!!

Longer honk time is one thing, but don't push more pressure to them to get them louder. They won't handle it well and you could tear up the internals.

Well they say they are rated for 165 psi I am only pushing 100 psi right now I was wanting to go to about 145 or 150 and a bigger tank!

I'm using the cheap Harbor Freight pump, seems the same quality as everything else on the market, but for way less money. I found my horn on Craigslist (nice metal one, dual trumpet) and a tank laying around from a friend. I am into my setup about $100 and it works great. A lot cheaper than the kits on the internet.
