With my 36 ft 5th wheel I started at 30lbs and now run 25lbs, but I dont load the hell out of it, pin weight right around 2000lbs, now mine is only a 2500 short box, put your load on the truck and add air till she sits level, thats the best way. make sure both side are equal.

They don't want you to run with them completely empty of pressure, I think it is hard on the bags. But when running with no load, I would keep them at the minimum at 5 psi.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
With no load I use zero pressure in the bags. With my 32 foot 5th wheel I run 45 - 50 psi to level the truck. One reason for the high pressure is that I have softer leaf springs in the back (Carli)
I raise or lower the pressure from inside the cab. Take a look at my gallery if you want to know how I do this.

i also have the pacbrake and run 5 or less when empty. i have been running zero for quite a while now.
i'm pretty sure running empty is fine as long as you don't go high speed off-roading. i think the only reason to have some pressur ein there is to prevent bottoming out and damaging the bags. as long as you don't drive to make it bottom out, you should be fine.
i tried 20 psi, then 15, and it was still really 'bouncy' for me. i eventually just put enough in to relax the springs but no more. seems to be good so far.
another thing to think about is your tire pressure. if you are unloaded, there is no need to have them pumped up anywhere near max pressure. i am running 55 up front and 35 in the rears while unloaded - this seems to have helped with the ride too.
