aftermarket stereo and canbus adapter

I have an '08 Dodge Ram 2500 with the standard radio and 4 speakers. I am wanting to upgrade the stereo with an eclipse head unit, amp, component speakers and sub. I can not seem to get a definative answer on the canbus adapter. Some say I need it and others say I do not. Has anyone added an aftermarket stereo to their '08 or '07.5 Dodge with a similar setup as mine and did you have to add the canbus adapter. Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

I'm 90% sure '06 and later trucks require the CANBUS adapter.

I think only the premium sound systems require the canbus adapter to control the factory amp.

That could be. I have the Infinity system in my truck and know I need the adapter.

All I did was tap into the cig lighter for the ACC power for the unit. Did not need the adapter.

The adapter makes the install much easier too.

I agree, I prefer it to be as integrated as possible. And it does work well.
