Aftermarket mufflers

I'm assuming the stock muffler on the 600's are pretty restrictive to exaust flow, but can't quite convince myself to make my nice new truck extraordinarily loud just yet. Are there any good pass-through style mufflers I can install that will give a few gains, let some smoke by, and not be as loud as a straight pipe? Also, is the "cat" the reason my exaust smells nothing like diesel? I had the manual high-idle enabled yesterday, and this morning I used it because it's 30 degrees out (pretty cold for living in Hell, Texas), and the exaust smells nothing like a diesel should. I learned my lesson about cutting parts off a stock exaust, as I had originally done that to my car, then had a whole new exaust made up, and when it was trade-in time, I had to spend money to get a quieter muffler and cat installe since I didn't have the originals, although I doubt I'm going to trade in my new truck.

replace the cat w/ straight pipe, replace the muffler with a 51" Donaldson... it'll have a nice smooth sound without a lot of volume, and the turbo will spool up quicker and EGT's will be lower.

put the cat and stock muffler in the attic

Hmm, I've been hearing alot about the Donaldson 51" muffler. A few of the diesel guys I met have straight pipes, and although it sounds **** good, I really don't want to do that to my truck just yet, but I figure lowering EGT's with a better muffler, no cat (are there any gains here? or just smoke? I want smoke and the diesel smell), and a nice open-element intake. Plus the fact I need to work on EGT's since I'm getting the PMCR installed next week.

Get a MBRP exhaust system. They fit better than stock and look great. You will love the way your truck sounds.
