aftermarket fuel pump install
I have some basic question and seek the wisdom of others that have added after market fuel pump.
I have a 99 dodge ram 2500 long bed.
at the moment I have the 234 and the 236 codes - different issues. I think the waste gate is stuck..I need to fix this. or replace the $100 sensor..
yesterday I won 2 - holley blue fuel pumps. for $26..i might need to rebuild them. but if they work its a great deal.
now how to plumb them into the truck
option 1. use both pumps in parallel, a filter following the pumps the output of the filter would feed between the Cummins Lift pump and the stock filter( this has a gauge on the output).
option 2. use both pumps in parallel, same filter after the pump but feed the input of the Cummins lift pump.
which would be a better setup? and why?
this is my first CTD..so far I love it..20 mpg give or take on biodiesel.
I think sometime the future I'll need to replace the VP because the truck had a 216 when I got, but I cleared the code changed the fuel filter and the code hasn't come back yet...

I would download the instructions off the fass site for the hplp and use that as a guide. I'd use only 1 pump, put a strainer before it, bypass the oem pump and use the stock filter housing . Put the pump fairly close to the tank as they work better as a "pusher" than a puller pump.

There's lots of opinions on fuel systems. many have runt he dual pump setup in SERIES.
I prefer to run a single pump as previously mentioned. Again, personal preference.
There are a number of aftermarket lift pump replacement options. Some are better than others and some have longer warranty periods, including lifetime warranties.
Do lots of homework and spend your money once. Nothing worse than having to build, rebuild, modify and swap to get to the point you could have started at. Unless you like to tinker, then it's all good!
