How necessary is an aftermarket flex plate with my new DTT. I was told that over 500 hp a flex plate is a must. If the stocker will hold up to an occasional launch and a couple truck pulls I wont worry about it.
What should I do?
I have until Monday to decide while the trans is out.

If twins are ever in your future, it's well worth the piece of mind and assurance. We had a truck run fine at ~415hp with the stock turbo for 6 months with a built DTT and then 2 months after the twins went on (481hp) the stock hub on the flexplate shattered. The plate actually shattered drving down the road after racing a quick TransAm. The TransAm lost and the flexplate did too.

By your sig it looks like you are just over 500hp. If DTT recommended it then I would do it. I have one in mine and I'm glad I did it. Last year I saw three different trucks with broken flex plates. Two 2nd gen's and a 3rd gen.

If you have the cash, I say do it. Heck of a lot less expensive at this stage than later for sure.
