Anyone using a prefilter on their Stage 2 Proguard 7 filters? Summer, winter or both?

Both, I have used a pre-filter on all of my AFE systems and filters. They help keep any objects off of the filter material, will keep most water/moisture from soaking into the filter material and will make it easier to clean.

Did you encounter any issues during the hotter temps of the summer?

I use one and live in Las Vegas NV. anywhere from 100 to 120 in the summer. I've noticed no ill effects, but just my $.02. Helps to keep bigger debris bugs off the filter media.

I've used them on trips to the North west. No ill effects If you use one you can remove the rubber front cover on the passenger side of the radiator. That will increase the cool air reaching the filter. The prefilter will protect the filter from all but the heaviest rain.
