I was looking at AFE intake systems and saw this:

Anyone running this product? Is it just for use with AFE Stage 2 intakes?

Does it really work?

MSRP is $410, but I think they will be selling for $349 or a tad bit less.

I have been running a preproduction unit for quite some time now.........it works well especially for towing.

I think afe makes good products but I agree with creed the price is a little high. everything for these trucks cost too much but people pay it. I had the arcflow intake for a short time and didnt feel any difference. im going to get a hellman when I get some other bills paid off

Does the Hellman intake have taped injection ports ? Their website is void of any decent information... The AFE looks pretty good for $300.00. Also, are folks ditching their grid heaters with these things ?

Also I sent Swanker an email last year on his intakes, bujt never heard back. Are his intakes for sale ? and if so how much ?

My bad, I missed it... By the way I did some checking on the other forums with regards to the Swanker intake. There is a waiting list for them. They are not in production. Many folks are going with the intake from Glacier Diesel, which is very simmilar.

Well went ahead and purchased the AFE. At least there are some dyno numbers to support the claims. I also tow quite a bit, and could use the extra ponies & torque. I am also planning on adding a water/meth kit as well, and I will have the ports al ready for that. Got it for $310 delivered via eBay.

Why would you ditch your grid heater when installing this??

I have had the AFE blade runner on for about 3 weeks now, I do feel some more pull, by seat of the pants definition [coffee]. Just look at the stocker and the any aftermarket intakes, they have to do some good, so I will pick one up! As for the grid heater, there is no difference at all if you remove or leave it.

guys remove them to get rid of the restriction, that all the wires that run across the intake opening cause. it's easy to take them on and off so even if you live where it's cold you can do it.....but if you leave them off you may get a hard start when temps are low....

I bought mine at a farm show for $275.00, $20.00 cheaper than what my Banks High ram cost. This intake was well worth the money IMO, runs 50-100 degrees cooler and boosts noticably quicker than the banks. Design is much smarter/cleaner + install went smoother. Comes pre-tapped in two locations W/ plugs for both holes if you don't have gauges. I love mine.
