Adding Gauges...EGT, Boost, Trans...
I would like to install some gauges on my 04.5 and need some info.
I would like to use a dash board mounted pod, right in the center top of my dash under the window. I have seen these on different trucks where they match the dash board color. Who makes them?
Next, I would like the gauges to match my current gauges in apperance. Who makes these.
Next, what boost range do I need? EGT range? Trans?
I plan on using a PDR BOOST GAUGE MANIFOLD FITTING to install the turbo boost gauge. Is there another way to install the EGY probe without drilling and tapping the exhuast manifold? Where do I install the trans temp sender?
Has any one ever install a PDR TURBO BOOST CONTROL ELBOW
on thier truck and will it work on a 04.5?
Thanks for the help....

you can get autometer phantom gauges to match your current gauges
Boost range up to 60 PSI, and EGT range up to 1600 degrees. Trans gauge should start at around 140 and go up to around 320.

Autometer Phantoms match pretty well in the daylight, but are decidedly different at night. The DiPricol's are the closest match in both day and night.
On the EGT probe - no, there is no easy way. You need to drill and tap.
The trans temp sensor can either go in the pan (need to drop the pan, drill/tap, and replace), you can get a replacement cooler line that has a temp. port (requiring you to replace the line), or you can use a test port (see the gauge installation at http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com for specifics)
The PDR boost bolt will work fine.
Oh, and Autometer makes the dash pod:

The Di procol's I have match perfect on my 05 the egt probe isn't that difficult just loosen bandclamp on down pipe 4 bolts unbolt turbo remove and cover drill and tap I use shop vac to suck out metal shavings then just sweep with magnet exhaust manifold is facing down so most shavings just fall out screw in probe and your done. For the trans go with the test port or a deep sump pan with a place for the probe I have done the tap on factory pan upon customers request pan is too thin I doesn't work to well

I have the Di Pricols and they match perfectly. I use a 60 PSI boost, 1600 degree EGT, 100-230 degree trans temp. Drill and tap is the only way to go on the EGT gauge, and I placed mine behind #3 cyclinder. I have heard the back three cyclinders run a little hotter so you might install just before #4 cyclinder. The trans temp I installed into the test port on the trans. I have had no problems.

Do these things produce that much boost that you'd need a 60? I thought that maybe a 30 would be enough... but it dfoesn't seem that I see very many of those.

if you have not done it.. I would go with mounting them above the rear view miror.. best place.. they are right there as you would look at the rearview mirror.. which is where you are always looking anyway.. so nothing new... they are out of the way.. not on the dash.. keeps everything clean... looks really cool. **** in my book...
** the white plastic is what I made so the wiring is not there.. painted it black.. plus I had to to some fine tuning with a dermel tool on the gauges wiring clip so they would fit in back..
** I do have some photos.. but I never made my PDF guide for all.. guess I will do so soon..
** then put a cooldown timer in..
** then put a audio alarm on the post turbo lead with a variable dial pot to dial in what temp
you want a alarm to sound when the 4,5,6 cyn hit the mark...
** I have a 600 and used fused #3 wire in ign switch for timer and #7 for power...

Theore I know..
at first I was pretty depressed .. but after awhile you will begin to notice it less and less. I called the factory once and some "woman" stated all guages should be the same! .. anyway. they do look good and MOST would NOT notice what we cry about at first.. I would prob. get them again if I had to do it over..
