Adding Cab Clearance lights to roof ?
My 2500 Sport QC doesnt have them, and I'd like to add them. A few questions for you guys :
* how do you get the lights centered / lined up / properly positioned on the roof ?
* who makes a quality kit ?
* is it a DIY job, or should I just have a shop do it ?
Thanks in advance.

The dealer offers a nice kit w/ the drilling template. That would be the way I would go. There is an older thread on here somewhere about this same subject, could help you alot.

Thanks 12vordie ! I had first tried searching using 'cab clearance lights' but cab was too short to be recognized. I just tried searching with 'clearance lights' after you posted and found the thread you mentioned. Thanks alot !
I didnt realize it, but there are different colors of cab clearance lights :
* clear smoke colored
* clear
* clear amber
* factory non-clear amber
After thinking about it, my truck is silver . . maybe the smoke would look good . . . ?
hmmm . .

There were some other posts on this subject (try doing a search), I seem to remember reading that someone said once they removed their headliner they found markings (by Dodge) inside the cab roof where to drill the holes....

38Cigarette, I just put my clearance lights last weekend. I bought a set (genuine Mopar) off ebay for about $24. It came with a template and all wiring etc. I didn't use the template that was provided though. The cab has pre-drilled centering holes for the marker lights. I just used those. Slapped the marker light up there and marked the 2 mounting holes and drilled from inside the cab. Fairly simple project, but an assistant will come in very handy. I spliced into my gauge lighing for light, easy.

Does the factory kit only come with the non-clear amber ( orangeish ) lenses ? Thats what I have on my '97 1500 that where factory installed.

clearance lights
I'd like to add these lights but wonder about leaking with the aftermarket installation. I thought I had read on this site about some leaks, has anyone had problems and how did they fix it? Currently there are 5 different sets of lights from $72-89 for sale on e-bay-Bill

When we put my buddies factory dodge lights on they sealed perfect and have had no leaks at all so far. I think they were about $75 from the dealer
