Added CFM+ & Heater Deleter= Less Boost???

I just added the CFM+ intake and Winspeed Heater Grid Delete spacer and lost about 3psi peak Boost? Is this because there is less restriction in flow meaning lower drive pressures? I checked for boost leaks and didnt find anything unusual. Is this normal?

Very possible! Boost is just a measure of pressure - and pressure = resistance. By removing some of the resistance, you lowered the pressure. However!......I'm sure you increased volume!

The problem is the boost pressure is measured down stream of the air horn and grid heater. So the loss of up stream restriction should mean more boost pressure at the manifold (where the boost is measured).

A really good test for those that are so inclined would be to install a second boost gauge at the outlet of the inner cooler. There they will see a major drop in boost pressure with a heater delete.

Thats what I am thinking. Throttle response has increased and the turbo is really singing now. I'm happy with the components I just didnt know where the other 3psi went? Where does the stock system Map sensor measure boost Pressure?

I agree with the explanation for the loss of boost. It is related to restriction. If you installed a cam, you would also see a loss of boost because the intake valves would open longer and flow more air and exhibit less restriction.

I know between my heater grid delete and ats manifold I lost boost when messured at the intake. I think that Adam gained 2 or 3 psi in the head after his install.
