AD150 failure

Only had this installed a couple months, already on my second pump (first one was noisy) now tonight on my way home, no fuel pressure. kept driving since it seemed to run fine, but when i got home i shut the truck off, then turned the key on... nothing, no fuel pressure, no pump noise... nada! what the heck!! starting to lose faith in air dog products. when i installed this one, it too was noisy. bought it for the lifetime warranty, but what good is it if you have to replace it every couple months... it was raining on the way home, but i've drivan in the rain before and never had any issue... anyone have any thought on this?? even if they send me a new pump, truck will be sitting til then.. very frustrating

I don't know what is going wrong with your pump.Hopefully you get it figured out.Your truck will run fine because the Airdog and Fass pumps are designed to let the fuel still pass to the cp-3.I don't think you will hurt anything driving it.The cp-3 was originally designed to pull its own fuel and I believe that the early model D-max's didn't have a lift pump from the factory. When I switch tunes on the Smarty I unplug my Fass and have driven several miles towing and forgot to plug it back up.The truck ran fine.Maybe just don't be hot rodding it till you get it resolved.

Get on the horn... I have had great dealings with AD... They'll fix it if it's their fault.

That is very odd, we have had very good luck with them. If we ever had a problem they are there to help right away also.

I've had times when the pump didn't come on with the key on, but once the truck is started the gauge quickly picks back up to 15psi. On the noise deal, you have a pump that is pretty much doubling your capacity of fuel available at hand, not only that but its clean airless fuel at that, I would think a the pump is gonna have some noise that is noticeable. My AD100 makes enough noise to be heard, but I find that just fine because I know what its doing when its doing it. Have you compared your AD noise to a Fass by chance? A friend of mine with a Fass is pretty ticked after hearing mine compred to his.

But I have been through this with others where we send them 3 pumps cause they are noisy before they actually go and check for air. Then we have 2 used pumps here sitting on the floor that are brand new but we cant resell. PLEASE go check and see if you have any air getting into your system. It is going to make it easier for both of us. Check for any cracks at the suction line at the top of your tank. Very common there especially in the cold.

I woke up this morning, started making my coffee and realized there was a fuse.... i'm an idiot, thats the first thing i should have though of before posting.... as far as the noise issue goes, i pulled the intake side off and stuck it in a jug of fuel where i could see that it was not pulling air. Still made noise and the connection at the pump itself was tight, so i dont see where i can be getting air unless there is a hairline crack or a pinhole in the hose, but i cant see how.... it's not unbarable, but i can hear it with the engine running. one of these days i'm going to pull the bed off and go through the whole thing again...
although, if something were wrong with the pump, which makes it noisy, that would certainly explain the blown fuse...... like if it had a tolerance issue? heck i dont know, i'm just glad it's a fuse at this point, but now, what caused it??... maybe a "made in china" fuse?

Do you have it secure to the truck? I blew some with mine secured, figured it was the vibration, so I let it sit freely with the big bundle of wire left I didn't use tied up. It is in a spot where it won't hit anything and so far so good. I will admit mine makes a pretty noticeable noise, but it has done me well for about a year now. Most ppl will tell you to secure it I imagine. I just get the Napa fuses and keep them handy just in case, but it has been fine.

Well, when i put mine on it said in the instructions if you get dirt/grim in the gears that it would blow fuses and was not covered under warranty. They show you where to look in the instructions. It's a plate on the pump where the gears are that has to come off for inspection of debries. Just a thought.

i'll try that. threw a new fuse in it and it blows it immediately. doesn't the fuel run through the filter first??
