ABS light and Brake Light and spedo

hey guys, this is my first post here, my friend told me to check the site out, i have a 98.5 24 valve with a five speed, the problem i am having is that when i was driving this afternoon the abs and brake light came on, i searched the posts here and found some info on a sensor on the top of the rear end. I took that electrical connection appart, cleaned it with cleaner, checked wires coming in and then re-set the computer. none of these things helped my problem, i am also having a problem with the spedo not working for the first 25 mph or so but then it kicks in and does just fine..............any help here would be very much appreciated.........i recently added lucas oil stablizer to the rear end and motor but don't think that the oil stablizer should have anything to do with the problem..........please help me out here, thanks

it's that sensor that you read about, it's about $40 and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to change,(mine went out over the summer, same things happened) the lights and speedo are both connected to this. Its the ABS/ Speed sensor.

Same thing happened here. So, sounds like a ABS/Speed Sensor.

thanks for the advice, i took the sensor out, and cleaned it off i thought the metal fragments that float around in a rear end could have messed with the sensor, but that didn't work the lights are still on and speedo does not work yet, i will try to buy another one today, if this does not work what is the next logical step for the problem

I see you got your problem straightened out. Just to answer your question, the next step would have been to replace your stoplight switch. It has circuits to control the ABS, cruise control cut out and of course, brake lights.
