Abs/Brake light on, speedometer works fine
Thanks, Rear axle sensor was replaced a year ago. abs light came on about 6 mos after the replacement. I Checked the ohm reading, it was around 1200. which I think is in the factory range. If not please let me know. 98 3500 24v FWD, two wheel ABS . Thanks Den

If the brake and ABS light is staying on, check or replace your stoplight switch. They run about $12.00 at Auto Zone.

The switch is located toward the top of the brake pedal facing the firewall (they're not listed as brake light switches). It controls the cruise cut off, ABS, and of course brake lights. The new switches come with instructions on how to install as they are adjustable. Altogether very simple replacement.

My brake lights work fine, and my cruise control shuts off when I hit the brakes. This would lead me to beleive that my stoplight switch is functioning properly. With everything else working, could this still be the problem?

mine was a short about 2' back from where your wire plugs into rear wheel speed sensor. cut the wire and spliced in a new section. it's nice having it back again. also, try a reset on your abs module.
with the key in run position pull out ABS fuse (#14 ? check the fuse map) for about 30 seconds. This will reset the module. If you still have a problem the lights will come back on again.
you can check the ABS module for codes by yourself with just a test light.

Yes, I do have a brake controller installed, and my trailer brakes are not working right now! The brake controller's light never comes on, red or green? This could very well be related to my ABS/Parking Brake light being stuck on. Any advice?

Hate to hijack, but I just had my brake controller installed. Don't have a trailer right now because it's at my camp but driving unloaded it doesn't light up with or without the brakes applied. Is that normal? I thought my dad's truck lit up all the time regardless of load or not.

On my 97 there are two wire bundle plugs behind the left front tire (between the liner and the cab). One of them houses both the wire to the speed sensor and the brake hot wire to the trailer plug. I have had to remove water from it many times, can't figure out how to seal it. Check it out.
