Hi , I purchased a 99 Ram cummins from an auction a while ago , it was a theft recovery and was misssing dash stuff ,computer etc , I am trying to peice it together ,I am trying to figure the odometer mileage on it , were is that stored ? PCM on the firewall ? or the computer on the engine ? the cluster was missing so when I replace it does it have to be programmed to match the truck ? the truck starts and runs , but I would really like to know how many miles are on the truck , I guess I would just like everything to match and be right ?

I believe it is in the computer, but it may be in the instrument panel. I'm curious how it's running without the computer, and the outcome of this project. Sounds like a good project to take on.

it's running on a borrowed computer , i wanted to hear it run before i spent any money on it !! LOL, car fax shows mileage at 148000 , auction stated as unknown ,

I don't think it's stored pon the firewall computer. Just changed mine and it was programmed for 145ooo but when I put it in a turned on the key it read 145077 as it did with the old computer.
