99 diesel (transmission drive-neutral)

Recently had my transmission (1999 diesel) rebuilt by a shop that has worked on our vehicles for 10+ years. A few weeks ago the truck started to have a squeal/squeak when driving and turning ... when the transmission was rebuilt they found a broken spring, but the "plates" did not look all that bad (160K miles) ... however, now that it is back together and rebuilt with a heavier duty torque converter the squeak is gone ...

the problem that remains is that the transmission seems to go into (float into) neutral temporarily when in drive (3rd gear) at around 1300 rpms / 30mph under a slight load ... almost like a "false neutral" - the tranny does not clunk at all, the tach jump up a few hundred rpm when it goes to neutral and then drops back down when it floats back to 3rd ... this problem can be replicated when O/D is off or on, if I drive it up a grade and keep my foot in the throttle it will shift thru the gears fine and run at highway/freeway speeds.

I have an appt. at the local dealership to get the ECM flashed next Tuesday, however, I am wondering what would be the symptoms of a bad Transmission Control Module (is that what they call it in a dodge?) or is is a Power Control Module ... I do have oversized 35" tires.

When the dealer flashes the ECM will that update the PCM as well, or do I need to ask for that?

bump .............

when the transmission is locked out of O/D how many gears are there (is Drive 3rd gear or is drive 3rd and 4th?)

I have found the TSB's for my year, just not sure what applies http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1999-index.htm#21_transmission
