99 Cummins just dies

This truck was given to me by my Dad who is now too old to drive. About 3 years ago it died on him on the highway. It did not sputter or miss - It was just like the engine was shut off. It was towed to Dodge and they could not duplicate the problem. It started once it cooled down. They did not do anything to it. It ran fine for about 3 years.Today it died while idling and it was the same deal. It was like someone reached in and shut it off. It would not restart at first. I waited about 5 minutes and it started and ran about 1 mile and died again. This time I did not try to start it until after waiting 15 minutes. It then started and got me home which was about 40 miles. I turned the AC off and ran the heater thinking it was a heat related problem. Not an overheating problem with coolant temp but maybe some sensor or something. When it runs it runs fine. It is a 24 valve 1999 6 speed. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Do you have any guages? Our trucks are known to have weak lift pumps, but without knowing what your fuel pressure is it would be tough to say.. If you do get a gauges there are two ports on top of the fuel filter canister that you can use to test...
