99 Auto trans slipping badly need recomendations (Minnesota)

Ok i need help from guys in the twin cities area. with the mods i have in my signature my trans is slipping pretty badly when the TQ converter locks up. i can pretty much drive right through it like it is not even there. I am starting to search around for a new transmission or maybe just a new TQ converter and valve body and maybe clutch packs. I do not know of alot of places in minnesota that sell new transmissions, I know of only one place and that is TC diesel in Blaine, they sell ATS transmissions and parts and possibly Goerend transmissions. Besides finding a retailer I also need a place that can install the new part/s as i dont have the room and my tools are at work. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Id go with Goerend. I love my Goerend parts. Drive out and let him install it, and then drive back.

In addition to the place I told you about in the PM. Here is a place that is closer to you and they sell and install Gorend transmissions too. Tell them wurkenman referred you from the local site.

If you can drive out to see Dave your will not be disappointed. At least give him a call for price info or if he has a local shop that can install his converters and VB's etc. I drove 800 miles one way and back and could not be happier. I did have a problem with the 3-2 shift on my VB and he shipped 2 VB's plus extra parts to a local builder to make me happy. I wouldn't worry about a long distance warranty issue, Dave stands behind his trans no matter what or where.

thank you everybody, that place in coon rapids sounds like it may be the ticket since they sell Goerend transmissions and they also install them. If you guys with a Goerend transmission dont mind me asking how much did it cost with or without them installing it ? i feel i dont need a fully built transmission but when i am done with mods to my truck i am hoping for 400-450 reliable HP with a reliable transmission, but maybe a pretty stout build would be best. Again thanks for all the replies i have had my truck for about a year now and it has been really problem free(surprised stock LP has lasted) and i am completely addicted to more power.

BTW: i took a look at my stock trans and it has a tag that says build date: 292 02, i assume that means 292nd day of 2002 ? the trans doesnt look like it has 147,xxx miles on it.

I drove out to Dave's shop and had the install done there. Service was top notch. I paid $3550.00 for the trans and $400.00 for the install plus Iowa sales tax. I really like the trans.

The address I gave you in Coon Rapids is an approved Gorend shop. They sell and install Daves Transmissions.

The standard duty is $3550.00. I almost forgot I also had a billet input shaft upgrade and that was $500.00 more. Check it out.

A friend of mine does diesel performance stuff up in Albany MN and he does Goerends transmission too. You may want to talk to him and see what he can tell you. His name is Jeremy and his shop is called Joel Schneider Automotive - 320-845-4856. Tell him Dave from MN-Jeep sent you.

He helped me swap my gear in my axles in December and he does good work for a reasonable price.
