97-01 brakes

Did anything change in the front calipers, or there mountings from 97 to 01. ive heard they went to dual piston calipers but ive never seen one to look. If they did how do they mount up? does anyone know if they mount in the same location as the single pistons on a 97? Id like to mount the dual pistons up front if i can.

Look for the big brake thread, yes things changed, and us older guys cannot upgrade.

Lots of work to improve the fronts.
Most folks find that when the rears start doing their fair share of work with the larger cylinders that the stock fronts are fine.

4637337 is an old Napa number. Now they have removed the 46.

I recently installed hawlk pads, cant say they are any better, than the high end bendex I was using, hawlks are quieter and more expensive, and dont bite as good as the bendex did. anyway I digress I went to a local parts place and they are ordering me the brake caliper brackets. I think they are going to be under 30$ perside or I could order new calipers and brackets for around the 75$ range. Hopefully tonight I'm going to pick up a set of 17inch factory rims for my future brake upgrade. I eat a set of expensive pads every 20,000kms or 4 months, and thats with ensuring that the rears are adjusted every month, if I dont keep the rears adjusted fronts last 1.5-2.5months tops. I also have the chev rear wheel cyls and have extended the prop rod as well.

I wish I had seen this thread last year, cause I'd have done it already!!

To do a 01 truck all you need is a set of rotors couple brackets and a set of 17 rims.......... pretty easy I think, no so for the older trucks
