95 cummins auto tranny shifting constantly
I have read many posts on this subject, but still am not sure if they address my exact problem. I bought the 95 Ram 2500 Cummins new, and from almost the beginning it displays the following problem: After finally shifting into overdrive, it will not stay there for more than a few seconds at a steady speed. It will shift partially out of overdrive (RPMs go up by 200) then immediately back down 200. 4 seconds later it shifts partially out, up 200 RPM, and back. It does this constantly. If I take overdrive off, it still does the same thing, shifting partially out of 3rd and back in. Is the unshielded alternator ground wire the problem? The computer? Should I buy a shielded ground wire and route it somewhere away from the main alternator wire bundle? Can one even buy a shielded ground cable?

On the 95, like mine, it's usually the TPS doing that to you. Do a search on TPS here. More info than you need. Or just replace it with a potentiometer.
