95 12v timing
I am going to get the timing on my 95 "checked" Whats the best place to have it set? Is 16° good? or should it be more? 17°?
I am not going to be going bomb crazy , not yet anyways.
I know it has slipped from stock, just from driving the truck.

Bill I heard that timing advances really help the old 160 pumps like mine...what should i expect when i leave Garmon's diesel on saturday? im gonna have them do it to 16 degrees...i got the stock plate a hair forward...will i see a difference...timing has never EVER been done since the factory

You would notice a egt drop if ya had gauges.. You will notice a little more power and a little better mpg. You can slide your plate almost all the way forward bring it back a 1/16th. Then crank the starwheel a few clicks forward. You want smoke for your stacks dont ya??? Then build a adjustable boost controller. You will have some fun.. For a while

I think i might be able to play around with the timing some , i found a used timing kit for sale. If i can figure out how to do the work myself , i'll be all set.
Does anyone know what a new timing kit is worth?

Well , after some searching i found it :
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....da&dir=catalog
Includes everything except the barring tool , which is another 70 bucks.

The kit i found for sale is lightly used , miller tools, includes the barring tool , DV socket , dial indicator , etc , but no gear puller. and it is 100$ us
I'll just order the gear puller when the snap on guy drops by work on friday.
