HEY EVERYONE I AM GOING TO LOWER DOWN AND CONVERT MY 93 W250 TO A DUALLY.I FOUND A 89 D350 2WD PARTS TRUCK FOR SHORT MONEY.THAT WOULD GIVE ME EVERYTHING FOR THE BACK END.HOW ABOUT THE FRONT??IS THE AXLE WIDER FOR THE BUD WHEELS OR IS IT JUST BOLT ON ADAPTERS LIKE ON THE 2ND GEN TRUCKS??? LET ME KNOW THANKS MIKE I TRIED TO SEARCH IT BUT COULDNT FIND NOTHING

They do not bolt on like the 2nd gens. IIRC the hub is different.

If you have the dana 60 front axle you should be able to switch the hub out to a reg set/up I will ask a buddy that is my Dodge God .thats all he does is eat sleep and think Dodge has a really nice M37 with a sb 360 in it with 44's

Cool That Would Be Easy.now Is The Outer Axle Different Lenth Too Or Is It Just The Hub??? Thanks Mike

I did the same thing to mine. I wanted a wider footprint, and better weight distribution when in the field - I use the flatbed to bring in hay.
Rear: add 2" spacers. People don't like aluminum, but I have had no issues. This will make room for rear dually rims.
Front: get a pair of bolt on adapters. They need machined out to fit over the front 4wd hubs. Change all studs to 9/16" by as long as you can get.
Takes just a bit of work - I had access to a machine shop - but it is an easily reversable dually/single wheel option.

Thanks that would work do you have any pics of your truck with the flatbed?? I would be using it to tow a 5th wheel horse trailer and for hay-grain etc so that would work out good for me as well. I havent seen a 1st gen with a flatbed.On the front how much of a spacer did you make?? I mean how thick?? Are you using the bud wheels on the front as well or a regular wheel??? Thanks for the info

I will work on some pics this week. My truck is working (extension boom bucket doing some painting) in a tight spot for a few days. When it is done, I will get them.

The rear spacer extends the 2rw axel to accomodate the dually rims. a dually axle is about that much wider on each side.

On the front I used the stock "budd" (is that the right term?) hub adapters. They bolt onto the front rotors with a little machine work - I got them on ebay, bout a hundred bucks. They add about 5 inches to the axle width to accomodate dually rims up front.

I use the flat bed alot. I built it in 1980 for my '76 - it was 82" wide - not enough for the dual wheels. So I built up side extensions to match the original bed - 7" each side, held on by 4 bolts each side. For dual wheels, it is now 96" wide. It is all a bolt on deal - adapters, bed extensions, two sets of wheels and tires - dually or single rear wheel - easily reversable.

I also pull a horse trailer - it is a bumper hitch, but my flatbed trailer is a gooseneck - ball is under a hinged trapdoor. I often wish my horse trailer was a gooseneck, but when I take the team out, there is a carriage riding on the bed.
